Way-too-early 2025 Georgia position room stock report: Bulldogs have early ups and downs
ATHENS — Kirby Smart is winning.
Comments
Among the incoming freshmen WRs, not just Talyn Taylor. All 5 freshmen are over 6'1", led by CJ Wiley's 6'4". All are also over 180 lbs, led - again - by CJ Wiley's 196 lbs.
@MikeGriffith Great article Mike. Speaking for me I’m concerned about both the O and D Line. But more about the D Line. Would be nice if Kirby could pick up at least one solid D Lineman out of the TP. We’ll see how it goes. P.S. I sure hope R. Robinson will come back, he’s a Beast when healthy.
Not seeing a natty -like team this season. Lost too many linemen with no replacements. Lots of younguns. Greene needs to really improve as does Freeling. O Line again appears sub par…good that Gunner has legs. Have to wait and see how this all gels.
Would like to see you have done a stock evaluation on the coaching staff. Scared?
Dang 10DAWG, that’s brutal. Yet, I find myself agreeing with you! Go Dawgs!
Mike did you proofread this thing before you pressed the Submit button???
What’s up with LB Justin Wilson, top 10 recruit from last year? Nothing in this article and really never hear anything about him.
Unless Greene and Freeling make dramatic improvement at tackle or we find linemen that live up to our standard, I'm afraid we need to get ready for very mediocre line play next year. Also—I hope the coaching staff is making a concerted effort to get the commitment of the Grayson Linebacker(can't remember his name), he's a baller!!
It's Williams (not Wilson). But yeah, Kirby was raving about him earlier in the year, and he came into the program so highly-recruited and with such elite tools. Go Dawgs!

I believe it's Justin Williams. He's played a little but more on special teams.
Lot's of schools have issues to fix not just UGA.
We should be pretty good next year.
I'd say both O and D lines are 'Stock down'. At this point if we don't have talented starters or depth at those positions, it would take a small miracle to survive another brutal regular season and a deep run in the playoffs. Its a rare thing to not have at least one or two injuries along the LOS on both sides of the ball, so you've got to account for that as well. Kirby MUST bring in more experienced talent.
“RB Room Stock up”
It’s really difficult to evaluate the stock status of this room because of how the injury bug has impacted it in the past. There’s a real pattern that should be a concern for CKS and company. There’s plenty of talent there, but year after year it seems like keeping them heathy has been an overwhelming challenge. This is a solution that is worth the effort to find.
GO DAWGS!
uh… we had another quarterback enroll January 6th - Hezekiah Millender is from Clarke Central High School and is 6’3” 200 lbs and can run. Look him up if you haven’t heard about him. Late flip from Boise State. May be raw but he had 4 rushing touchdowns and 3 passing in a GA AAAAA playoff loss. It seems Mike needs to check with Jeff Sentell for an updated class roster.
We need linemen who are big and fast—4 or 5 stars only, thank you. A massive, slow-moving lineman just isn’t going to cut it (looking at you, Truss). And let’s be real: this is going to require more NIL money. A lot more. Don’t even get me started on the coaching disaster we’ve been tolerating—it’s been like watching a slow-motion train wreck every Saturday.
Also, can we all admit the obvious? College football has gone full pro mode. It’s time we run it like a professional sport. Bring on the draft. Bring on player contracts. Heck, bring on salary caps if you must. Just give us structure, because the current free-for-all is chaos.
Offensive and Defensive Line are BIG concerns. With our schedule we are counting on a lot of unknowns in these position groups. 4 new starters on the OL and the 1 returning starter was a point of weakness and cost us some points against ND with just being ran around at LT. So GIANT question marks on the OL.
On the DL we lose Stack, Brinson, Williams. TID our most consistent DL all year - gone. Basically the heart of the defense. We lose our 2 best pass rushing specialist linebackers in Walker and D. Wilson to the portal. We get back (C. Miller, Jordan Hall, McLeod, and a bunch of freshman and incoming cruits). Very, very concerned here.
I don't see us making the playoffs with this group of linemen unless a bunch of young pups flash and flash early (look at our first 6 games next year). 8-4, 9-3 type of year probably. Love Kirby but the game has changed. Time to find some wealthy alumni willing to write checks and bring in some more line talent.
