Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

as a capitalist, i find it extremely disappointing that there is a simple product that people want in extremely high demand, and corporate greed is in the way of us getting it. smh
I saw that and wasn't too optimistic. It has the same trouble as a lot of the streaming services, because local channels get dropped. And if one cartel dominates, you can be sure the price won't stay down, and I'm just waiting for companies to require minimum contracts.
An article I read suggested ways to get everything and also save money.
They suggested having one service which includes live tv. Hulu live without ads would be one choice. YouTube live, another. I've used both and settled on Hulu.
Next pick the most appealing non-live streaming service - Paramount +, Netflix, Max, whatever - and subscribe to it. Just one of these. Watch everything you most want to on that one service for a month. Cancel it before the second payment is due, so you only have this service for a month, and only pay for a month.
For the following month, pick the next most appealing non-streaming service, for just a month, as above.
That way you get what you most want and pay the least.
Sounded like a good plan, I thought.
Go, Dawgs!
Apollo
We have Dish and live in Braselton, Georgia. Like many posters on here, we lost access to ABC (WSB in Atlanta), but only ABC. We continued to get the ESPN family of channels and Disney for the grand kid.
I was bummed about losing ABC, because there were a few Dawg games broadcast on ABC and could only be viewed via streaming. But we have the worst streaming service for live broadcasts, Hughes Net. The images are fuzzy and sometimes the content freezes.
In addition, next season I believe ABC has the rights to several Dawgs games.
Anyway, to my surprise ABC suddenly appeared on Dish's channel line-up. I can't tell when this change occurred . Did anyone else experience the same?
Yes. about a week ago I got a message that ABC was returned to the Dish lineup. I now (and previously) got it on channel 9 here near Gainesville (the swamp one). When it was removed, it still got it on Dish on channel 20. Now I get it on both.
Gainesville (the swamp one). Thats pretty funny.
Thanks for explanation on ABC returning to Dish.
Time and network announced for the Aflac Kickoff Game: Georgia vs. Clemson. Its on ABC at 12 noon.
So glad ABC was added back to my Dish lineup.
Over the past 13 years I've tried Sling TV, Hulu Live TV, and YouTube TV.
Sling TV:
- $60.99/month + tax for the Orange & Blue package
Hulu Live TV:
- $81.99/month + tax
YouTube TV:
- $82.99/month + tax
Note: if you subscribe to Sling TV yet want to watch live college football on local channels (e.g., ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC), then invest in a quality indoor HDTV antenna. Fwiw, they are relatively inexpensive ($20-$40) and work by acquiring local over-the-air broadcast signals. While I've used a Mohu MH-110583 Leaf 30 Indoor Antenna (40 mile range; amplified = 60 mile range) since 2012, here are some other recommendations per a recent New York Times article:
https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-indoor-hdtv-antenna/
Btw, last year Disney CEO Bob Iger said that ESPN will launch its full suite of channels on its app for a subscription as early as August 2025. While he didn’t mention the price, some folks think it will only cost subscribers $25-$30/month.
I used YouTube this year without a hitch.
Yes,me too. I left my satellite service connected as a backup during the season so I could test the ability to watch the games without risk and I did not miss anything I wanted to see on YTTV.
I appreciate all of you who have shared the wealth of information shared on this thread that got me comfortable with making the switch. I am saving money and probably watching less TV since I have to go through more steps on my TV interface to get to the channels, so I am tending to just read more articles online about things I find interesting.
if you add YouTube tv to your computer, you can arrange channels to your liking, this lineup will change on all your tvs.
Thank you for the tip!
I use the YouTube App on my iPad to choose the channels I want to watch and arrange their order on the guide on my TV’s.
I don't even own a TV. I watch on my computer with my biggest monitor. Don't know if that makes me an uber cord-cutter or a total Neanderthal.
