What comes next for the Georgia defensive line after Hero Kanu commits to Texas

ATHENS — Georgia has tried to make additions to its defensive line for the upcoming season. One in the form of 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry and more recently with Ohio State transfer Hero Kanu.

Texas showed him the money.
Not a big deal. This guy had ONE solo tackle in all of 2024.
NIL and the transfer portal has officially ended my passion for the game. I still enjoy watching but I'm not all-in like I once was. I'm not planning my weekends in the fall the games anymore. Hope UGA gets the players it needs, but that's why the coaching staff is full of millionaires, they get paid very well to make it happen.
He would have been a decent “back-up” to give us more depth, but definitely not a “starter”. Interesting he committed to Texas before his visit to Texas A&M this upcoming weekend. I mentioned yesterday on another site that he’s at best a mediocre player with only 14 tackles in 3 seasons at Ohio State. This is a loss, but not one to lose sleep over considering we have a limited number of scholarships. Hopefully we can get a big surprise when the spring transfer portal opens. Go Dawgs!!!
Are there no Jr college D linemen worth a look?
I was thinking that perhaps he could have made the rotation, but I never thought he had the grapes to become a Dawg D Lineman…he was definitely not better than anyone currently on our roster!
I've said it before… players can't live up to their hype if they don't play! Yeah I know, they have to "earn" playing time by their prep and practice; but if you need bodies, put some of these heralded pups out there and see what they do; and let them stay out there if they hold their own. You might be pleasantly surprised (or not). Go Dawgs!
This is why you recruit. Lots of playing time available if the young pups work hard in the weight room and on the track.
Texas $$$$$ at work..
From the article, this is a huge loss. From the comments, not so much.
(I don't know much about these players or the NIL issues involved.)
Go, Dawgs!
No big loss if you go by his stats for the past 2 years. Evidently he wasn't good enough for Ohio st to try and keep him in Columbus.Especially since they paid key players to return to osu instead of opting for the NFL. That speaks volumes. Almost the same post below gets an up vote, yet this gets down voted 🤣 vote it down again, it won't affect me in any way, or change my post, even if you could down vote it 100 times..
I'm as big of a DAWG fan as anyone. But how is it considered UGA territory? Recruiting is not divided into recruiting regions for schools. That's why there's multiple out of state players on every roster in college football. Recruiting is on a National scale for every school, not just regions a school is limited to recruit players from.
in reference to @natejaws 's comments, this is incredibly sad... yet, I have to say the same. I NEVER planned a weekend or vacation if it conflicted with UGA football. Now? I still try, but I'm no longer worried about missing a game or three...
I will always be Dawg loyal, but it feels like the loyalty the other direction is mostly gone (ND seems to have done a good job to preserve this... the rest, including UGA? Less so, it appears).
I'm hoping things calm down, but realize "mini NFL" is already occuring before our eyes. I actually think it'll get better once they calm down the NCAA ranks as "not worse" than the NFL... soon, I hope?
@Kudzu….Well, you've got (3) homes games against Austin Peay, Marshall, and Charlotte that you could easily miss plus a couple of open weekends. So, plenty of time to get a vacation in and still see the Dawgs beat up on the non-high school teams!
If this BS continues, Texas has the money to outbid any school out there. If NFL2 continues on its present path it will ruin College football. I can tell the change of attitude and sense of loss in all of y'all's posts. I'm there with you—its just not the same right now. College football has been one of my favourite things in life—-let's not let it crash and burn. That'll be the day from HELL !!
