Why the numbers paint an encouraging picture for Georgia and the transfer portal

ATHENS — Georgia is never going to add more players from the transfer portal than it loses. The Bulldogs recruit too well on an annual basis to be able to retain all of their talented players.

Good analysis Connor concerning the importance of retention - which becomes as important as recruiting. Georgia has done pretty well in that regard. For Kirby, Development will now have to probably take a back seat to recruiting and retention when the average time a player stays at one school shrinks. How much time and effort do you put into developing players? Thats what Kirby will have to figure out. Like I said in one post this week, it's almost like a partial team rebuild every season which is going to be challenging especially considering that team dynamics and comraderie are so important.
Of the Top 25 teams, I think Miami lost the least number of players to the portal (8).

Let's hope we can develop the next great O-line, becasue that didn't happenlast season. We took a huge step backwards.
Seems like teams like Penn St and Notre Dame did more with lesser talent than ours along the O-line
That's what my mind keeps coming back to, reddawg1. I just don't see how this year's team can meet the expectations of the program without major improvements on the OL, and we seem to be moving in the opposite direction. Simply retaining offensive linemen who just aren't as talented as the starters who are leaving for the NFL won't do the trick.
I home I'm totally wrong. But I just don't see the evidence that we'll have the protection for Gunner or open the holes for Frazier that we'll need.
Beck's problem was 50:50. The guy had absolutely zero leadership ability, but he played under Bobo who set him up for failure in many ways to include incompetent receivers, a clueless offensive line, and extemely **** play scheming. So half of the problem is gone. The other half remains. Bobo is the new Willy Martinez. Actually, he's the old Willy Martinez too. We know that Bobo was unremarkable the first time, then hired him back again. Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result each time.
As far as recruiting, we look great on paper with average stars etc, but we continuously lose the real playmakers to other teams. It seems like it is getting worse, too.
