    “sound open-field tackling skills that Kirby Smart’s players are known for”

    Did I miss something?

    In seriousness, very proud of the guys playing and showing their skills.

    @87dawg — I'm not sure what you mean? Georgia defenses are known for their open-tackling, Kirby works it harder than most throughout the week.

    @MikeGriffith

    Traditionally, yes but can we honestly say that has been the case of late? How many time did we complain about yards after contact? Far more often than we should have. Arm tackles, shoves, bumps and just plain sliding off the ball carrier.

    I’m sorry but no. We were not great this past year.

    The coaches can only teach the technique and the scheme, the rest lies on the shoulders of the young man. People forget what is was like to be a young adult with many issues or other things on their mind while attempting to complete the task at hand. These kids (young adults) are still that, many are not perfect, nor should they be at their age.

    After a game, most feel they gave it everything only for us on the sidelines to call them out, put them down, or want the next man up because they did something we did not agree with. Just wished everyone would stop and realize they are still young adults playing the game in an era that we all wished we were doing.

    Yes, young adults however, in some cases, making thousands, tens or hundred of thousands or even millions of dollars to play (I still hate NIL with a passion).
    As a fan, booster and alumnus I have the right to criticize. I see poor tackling, I can say something. No individual was called out and no player was put down but it has to be recognized. Our tackling was bad. If you were brought here to do that job it should be expected that you do it. That is high school, college and pro.
    If a player is not performing then yes, of course I want to find the better player. I’m sorry, that’s just how it is.

    And can we honestly forget that people, lots of people, on this forum were calling for Schumann to be replaced for this very reason? I don’t want anyone to lose their job but I do want to be better.

    I agree @MikeGriffith. The Dawgs’ open field tackling technique was solid (not always perfect) overall this season. However, IMHO, maintaining lanes on the inside and closing on running QBs was sometimes less than the standard.
