Georgia football went about addressing its biggest offensive issues in two different ways

ATHENS — Talk to just about anyone in the Georgia program following the loss to Notre Dame and they’ll tell you the first-time starting quarterback wasn’t the problem with the offense.

Juan Gaston may push. Very good reports from all star game and others. He was recently measured at 6' 8" 388 lbs., and can move very well. There was a recent interview with Searels on him. Was a basketball player.
It's always exciting to see how much these players improve from one year to the next. However, in 2025 I'm hoping to see a big improvement in Searels, Bobo, and Coley.
GO DAWGS!
It's beating a dead horse, but the number one person that has to improve is Mike Bobo. While Bobo doesn't throw interceptions, fumble the ball, miss blocks, or drop passes, he has to be more creative in play calling and scheme. Bobo loves screen passes, and that's not a bad thing if…. they are executed properly. We have, arguably, the best TE room in the nation, with guys who are much bigger than WRs and are trained to block; why not use them more in the screen game? The run game must return in a big way. If Georgia is to remain RBU, then we're going to have to figure a way to open up the run game and get back to wearing defenses down. We have the backs… when they're healthy, the offensive line needs to find a synergistic combination that works together and gels. Too many missed blocks and being dominated at the line of scrimmage last year. Juan Gaston, if he can cut some weight, ought to be a huge (literally) road grader for the O line; the same goes for Jah Jackson. But it's like a report I saw from ESPN. I think Georgia needs to get back to the basics, especially when it comes to blocking and tackling; master the fundamentals. Let's talk about health. Our conditioning coaches are second to none; it's been proven time and time again; however, I'd like to see an emphasis on upper body strength to mitigate some of these shoulder issues. Knees are knees; not much can be done to strengthen them; however, a good stretching regimen can go a long way in mitigating hamstring injuries and other muscle and ligament issues. We have the same brutal schedule, sans Clemson, this year, and thankfully most are at home, but the grind will be the same. Over the summer, concentrate on conditioning (the legs feed the Dawg) and mental toughness, and I think we'll be right back in position for the SEC and a playoff bid.
Agree with your points no Bobo & run game. Apologize that I can’t remember source of article (think it was CBS) but it seemed intelligent in it’s review of our ’24 season. Said something to the effect of our run game scheme was “ancient or archaic”. Back to Bobo.
What folks seem to forget is that Bobo is in charge of the entire offense not just play calling. So if the offense stinks, blocking, running and passing are subpar that is on the OC and HIS offensive staff of coaches to fix.
Grade F
With scheduling, injuries at virtually every position, & ridiculous changes occurring in college football, it’s amazing the Dawgs won 11 games much less the SEC Championship. Every team had their good & bad moments last season however Georgia was impacted negatively in virtually every facet of the game. While we drop a Power 4 game this season, the schedule will continue as one of if not the toughest in the country. Add in the fact this will likely be Kirby’s most difficult reload/rebuilding year yet & both Tennessee & Florida return their starting QB’s, 2025 will be another challenging season. If the drops, turnovers, & injuries can be alleviated or at least significantly reduced, the Dawgs should be in the thick of things next season. Another CFP season with a chance to win it all is well within reach. GO DAWGS!!
Dang 6'8" 388 is a massive human being. Would love to have three of those on my OL and just start pushing people around.
Two Bobos is one too many.
"With the offensive line, Smart is displaying patience."_____DN
Lol.…last time I heard that statement as it relates to UGA....Mark Richt patiently waited for DC Willie Martinez to throw away a golden opportunity at a couple of Natty's.
I'm just sayin'....IMO, "Patience" cost Richt a possible dynasty and in the end, got him fired. Ironically....he missed out on hiring Kirby as DC, cause Kirby was "patiently" waiting for the HC position to open up.
The offensive line isn't the unit to be patient with. Nothing works without an offensive line. Poor offensive line play, requires a sense of urgency in my opinion. I have serious doubts about Searels. Not, as a recruiter....but, as the type of offensive line Coach the Dawgs need for a power running game.
Unless....Bobo intends to change things up on offense, this year. And, he may....now that he has the QB in place, that he recruited when he was in Columbia, SC. C
