Why does it serve him right? He was a Dawg for 5 years, including as a member of the Scout team who could have transferred anywhere and started sooner but he stayed, even without any NIL. I’m still interested in him and will follow and root for him.

I’m sorry, no. The kid was a winner and a Darned Good Dawg.

Sorry to hear about that. Bad karma. He should have made an appointment with Charles Schwab before visiting those bespoke exotic car dealerships. I've got an idea. Napoleon Dynamite drove an AMC Pacer. That would fit Carson Beck quite well, I think…

Well said, 87. While his "personal style" might fit better in Miami versus Athens, and there was always something a little off about his leadership, he loyally paid his dues and deserves our respect. I'll be forever grateful for his contributions over all those years, glad he moved on (so we could usher in the new era QB), and will pull for him wherever he lands. Go Dawgs!

Not sure why so many are down on CB. All he did was throw for 7,426 yards, 52 TD's, 18 Int. in 27 games. Compare that with Stetson's last 2 years starting 6,990 yards, 56 TD's ,14 Ints. in 29 games. Where's the fall off?

Not to mention ad nauseam we didn't have BB and LM to throw to this season, nor as good a running game or offensive line that SB was afforded. Oh and neither was the defense as good as when SB played. Everything pretty much boiled down to CB's arm. GIven the same team SB had to work with I have no doubt that CB more than likely could have done equally as well. You're of course welcome to feel otherwise.

Was he a rah-rah kind of boisterous leader? Of course not, but neither was SB. I suppose if he had purchased a 100K pick up truck all would be forgiven. I highly doubt CB will ever drive a pickup truck. But so what? IS he my favorite UGA player ever? No. But why would anyone have all the animosity? I just don't get it.

    Some of ya'll embarrass me.

Seems ironic and certainly unfortunate. I wouldn't wish having any possessions stolen on anybody.

Did make me wonder whether GS's '84 pick up truck would've been stolen parked down there in Coral Gables. Towed maybe but probably not stolen.

Bravo !! Very well said and True !! You got down voted as did I, guess we made to much common sense. Course people that have never been victims of crime many times have no sympathy for those of us who have.

In one of the burglaries that we suffered the Thieves took a camera box filled with family pictures thinking there was a camera inside I suppose. Many of the pictures could never be reproduced as the family members are deceased.

But in the mindset of the unsympathetic they think well you shouldn’t have had Your pictures, in Your camera box, in Your home, in Your chest of drawers for the burglars to Steal. Heck it’s not the poor burglars fault. 🙄😡.

If crooks see there is only VERY light punishment and Little consequences to their actions they figure why not commit the crime ?? Big yield with Little risk. That’s Exactly Why we have so many repeat offenders. But what do I know I only worked in State Corrections for nearly 12 years. They’re all guilty of only singing to loud in Church. 🙄 P.S. After the third time it happened my home owners insurance was threatening to cancel. And yes we did have an alarm system though crude by today’s standards. This was in the mid 80s.

    Fall Off:

    1. Stetson Wanted to be here….a DGD through and through
    2. Stetson played the best in the biggest games
    3. Stetson won an SECC as well. GOOD TEAMMATE! GOOD LEADER! CB didn't show up to one CFP practice
    4. Stetson was able to use his legs as well. Many big rushing plays. An athlete
    5. Stetson was a Heisman finalist
    6. STETSON WON 2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

    But why talk about facts.

I believe I made my point about Beck wanting to be at UGA as he was for 5 years, whereas Bennett transferred out rather than waiting. Beck wanted to be at UGA and graduated from UGA. Bennett did not.

Bennett lost to florida. Beck did not.
Beck and the team won an SEC Championship. He did against the toughest schedule in the nation. He was hurt because of a bad coaching decision and his team lost the next game without him. He also got screwed out of the 2023 NC with one loss when he was leading the best team in the country.

Beck ran better than you recall. He used his legs many times for crucial first downs. Was he a dual threat? No but he was still a proven threat when running.

Stetson as a Heisman finalist was assisted because of his story (sorry folks).

The University of Georgia won two National Championships with really good all-around teams, not an individual.

I can say it now, I was never a Bennett fan. He always struck me as a selfish, “me first” player and proved that when he threatened to transfer if he didn’t start however, I appreciated what he did for the University of Georgia and take nothing away from his skills. I’ll get down voted for that but I don’t care.
It is ridiculous that we have revisionist history here and trash Beck.

I wish Beck nothing but success unless we play Miami, although I think we will be better off with Gunner due to his mobility. But how many of you criticizing him can honestly say you wouldn’t have done the same ? We all would have. It’s professional football now & he did what was best for him.

I'm a huge SB fan. I think his story is the greatest College football story of all time. BUt I'm also able to appreciate the contribution that CB made to UGA. DId I like the way it all went down at the end of the season? No. BUt you have to remember CB was going to declare for the draft and he needed to speak with I'm guessing 2-3 specialist about his elbow and get their take on what he was dealing with and he had to do so in a hurry. Fly here , fly there. LEarn what the problem was, to what extent it was , and if he even needed surgery or not. Anyone tried to get surgery appointments in a hurry lately? That's why he didn't attend practices(just surmising) not because he's not a team guy. It was only when he found out he wouldn't be able to even throw til June and that the NFL draft thing wasn't going to go well if he declared.

So, by the time he went to the docs, go the MRI's, got with his agent and family and came up with a plan for his future he no doubt had burned his bridges to some degree or other and UGA wasn't going to do another NIL for 2.something million again.

Miami had a huge need and backed up the Brinks truck from all reports. Carson Beck is winning, living with or close to his GF, got the money, will more than likely ball out next year and be drafted in the 1st round.

Ask yourself if he was your son, what you would have told him or wanted him to do? JUst go to practices and wait til the team was finished with it's playoff run? He didn't know if they were going to go all the way til the NC game or not. What was it? January 20th? I think you would have done the same thing CB and his family did. What's best for your son. Coaches (grown men) make these decisions al the time. Here's an opportunity over here, more pay and a step up the wrung. See ya!

If you just don't like him, for whatever reason, then fine, but remember how everyone said our receivers were trash, our RB's were not up to par and our O-line couldn't block a girls team. What does that leave you with? A guy who beat everyone but BAMA and Ole MIss. We were never going to beat OLE Miss that night, and he brought us back twice against BAMA with a chance to win, if only our defense could make a BAMA last possession stop.

Let me see…..another year to fully recover from elbow surgery, another chance to really show how great I am….albeit against some mighty "weak sister" ACC competition, a year to soak in the "Hurricane" LOVE with his true love occupying the position of Campus King & Queen, lovin life in sunny south Florida and to top it all off more millions…..maybe hire some body guards or at least get a Ring Door Bell for the garage……**** Straight, I'd do the same thing except in 76 I'd would have fixed all the dings on my 65 Mustang and bought a bunch of gold Kruger Rands!

Stetson Bennett will always be a DGD because he set a standard….likewise Carson Beck will always be a DGD for the standard he set…..next it's Gunner's time, and I have no worries about the standard he will set…..all three different but all three live and play by mighty high standards and in there on way, leaders of The Best Football program in America!

Sorry that it happened to him and wishing Carson nothing but the best.
