Is it a coach’s fault when players can’t execute? Heck yes! Recruiting and development 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

This has no relevance to the article, please excuse that—but if you have 10 minutes and haven't seen this, take a minute to watch—-Munson, Stafford, Massaquoi and a last minute drive to beat our hated rivals—what could get any better? Can I say I may've enjoyed it more than the sermon this morning—forgive me Lord!!

    A couple of thoughts.

First. Nice try, but winning the national championship dwarfs winning the SEC. But winning the SEC is still quite an accomplishment in itself. A consolation prize.

Second. The military definition of leadership is pretty simple: Getting other people to willingly do what you want them to do. If Rattledge and the other offensive linemen didn't follow Searles' own instructions the entire season, then Searles is not a good leader. Good coaches have to be good leaders. Why didn't the linemen follow his instructions?

Third. Good that Rattledge and Beck were good friends. But Beck could not handle his fame, and his concentration on money, fast cars, and women instead of the Georgia Bulldogs resulted in his lousy season which eliminated the Dawgs from CFP success all in itself. I couldn't care less how poorly or well he performs from here on out, because he put the money in front of other important things IMHO.

Best of luck to Tate Rattledge. He will always be a role model and a DGD.

I really admire Tate’s loyalty to his unit coach and friend. Loyalty is a great quality. And he took the majority of the blame on himself and his fellow O Linemen.

BUT as @Beachwagon stated and I Totally agree, sounds like Coach Searls has very poor leadership qualities, based on Tate’s comments. Also I wonder about the Techniques that Searls is teaching ??

These O Linemen have been very high quality coming out of HS. Sure there will be a few misses in the evaluation of them. But Dawgs fans saw with their collective eyes the extremely inconsistent play of the O Line.

It was a rare treat to see them both Effectively run block and pass pro in the same game. Usually you got one or the other, all to many times Neither. Had the O Line did their job I believe the Dawgs could’ve advanced deeper into the playoffs.

But there was also the WRs couldn’t catch the ball so maybe not. Players are held accountable for poor play, these Highly Paid coaches should be held accountable for weak coaching. Just my humble opinions.
P.S. I would dearly Love for Searls & the WRs coach to make me eat crow this year, would be Great !! But for now I’m very skeptical of the O Line, WRs I’m thinking might be improved just on having More talent available.

That’s good stuff !! NOBODY could call a game like Munson !! Although he was used for his main job of blocking this was back when a FB was used some to run the ball, talking about Southerland. Thx for posting this !!

I must have missed how CB's play eliminated UGA. Could you explain?

It’s coaching! I posted a comment yesterday, but apparently it was removed because I said Tate was simply covering up for Searles. Of course, I put it in blunter terms. Weird nevertheless to have it removed since it contained no profanity.
4 offensive linemen at the combine. One scores higher than any center since 1980 something. Tate scores well. Come on! That much talent and a mediocre performing o-line last season. It’s coaching.
