I’m going to have to admit I have been too critical of this team and Mike White in particular. A win over Vandy this weekend for a 20 win season before the SEC tournament would be sweet. Guys have stepped up, it appears White may have made some adjustments and this team has a good shot at the Big Dance. Go Dawgs!

Perhaps this is the year that we get hot at the right time and make a little run in the SEC and then onto the Dance. Would be a great accomplishment for this team and Coach.

I disagree that they’ve locked up a tournament bid. I think they have to beat vandy at home Saturday. Both teams are fighting for a bid. A loss to vandy could put them in a bad spot.
    Go Dawgs!

Up until 3 games ago they were playing terrible in the 2nd half. I like that at practices they started having a halftime so they could somehow cut this trend out. Seems to be working. I was having my doubts but always a believer they could. Last time they were in the NCAA's I went with some friends so if they make it I'm going. Go Dawgs

imo we need one more win to make sure we avoid the Tues/Wed play in game. But I gotta admit Mike White & staff have made some nice adjustments & had good game plans since the bye. Of course none of that matters if Silas & Big Shot Blue don’t step up. Go Dawgs

@David1 I agree we need to take care of business on Sat to feel comfortable. But Vandy is in. 8 seed according most bracketologists. Which just means the win would be more impressive

IMO...They're right where i thought they would or should be, at this point in the season. They certainly took their sweet time getting here, though.

The Dawgs are playing like champions, now. Certainly, they still have lapses of sloppy ball handling and cold shooters, just like everybody else. However, those lapses are fewer and further between....not to mention shorter.

The maturity and experience gained over the last 4 months, has enabled them to recognize those slumps, and put a lid on em, before they can disrupt the Dawgs momentum to the point of defeat.

I believe the biggest differences between the March Dawgs and January Dawgs....are, the "Leadership" and "Confidence" gained over the last month or so. They're playing and carrying themselves with a new swagger and it's good to see.

Demery has developed into a guy that is reacting with confidence...not thinking, then, hesitantly acting. But, he IS thinking. He keeps everybody on the same page....and everybody responds. I'm not sure he doesn't have a little more room to grow, between the top of his head and "his ceiling". Lol...it's fun to watch guys like that grow into themselves and excel.

While Demery was the key.…that doesn't minimize the contributions of Cain, Newel, Lawrence and the others.Dawgs.

IMO.…Mike White built one helluva team in the '24-'25 season and developed them into a cohesive unit, capable of beating anybody...literally.. That's gonna become apparent, soon, I think. The Dawgs are gonna be a tough beat, from here on out.

Go git em boys. Get you an SEC Trophy.

Joe Lunardi, the Bracketology expert, said the Dawgs would be in the NCAA tournament with just 1 win in their remaining 2 regular season games. I will go with what he says. 😀

The switches from zone to man-man and back were very effective. Great coaching.

We still haven't conquered our tendency to let opponents get back in the game in the second half. But this bunch has developed the confidence and skill to keep the lead by answering those runs — especially Cain and Demary. Before we were just collapsing. White's practice adjustments and the team's growing experience in a very tough conference has helped this bunch of sophomores, freshmen and transfers to grow up.

Newell played a bit soft and spent too much time on the perimeter. He needs to show muscle on the inside more, IMO. But it says a lot that, on the road, we beat a hot team on an off-night for our best player (and an on-night for their best player).

We're up to 32nd in NET ratings now. A win against Vanderbilt would surely put us into the top 30. It also could give us a more favorable seed in the tournament — vs Ole Miss, A&M or Kentucky — whereas if we lost we might have to face Tennessee or Missouri.

They say good guards and good D help in tournaments. We've got both.

Can't help but look ahead to '25-'26: I sure do hope most of this team sticks together for next year. Demary and Cain could become an elite pair of guards as juniors — a backcourt core. Cyril, Godfrey, James and Abson would be a good gang of 4s and 5s to build off of, and we have a couple of promising bigs committed. That leaves a void at the other wing spot — could be filled by Nique's nephew (our top '25 recruit) or a transfer.

First two game ROAD SEC winning streak of the year under CMW. Amazing what 40 minutes of offensive motion and aggressive defense can do. Don't know why it took so long to implement but who cares, keep it going.

Still struggling with the second half. Another big halftime lead squandered. At least the Dawgs have found the ability to stop the bleeding down the stretch and hang on for the win. The game Saturday against the Dores is critical. I think it takes that & at least a 1st round win in the SEC tournament to be amongst the last 4-in. The committee does not like a losing W-L conference slate. They also look closely at the last 10 games. A win Saturday will have the Dawgs 5-5 for the last 10 with two quad-1 wins & the 5 losses all quad-1 with 3 of those on the road. This end of season run has been the best the Dawgs have looked in the SEC for years. GO DAWGS!!

@Betheredge They didn’t blow a big halftime lead. Any knowledgeable basketball fan knew S Car would make a run playing at home. UGA weathered it well. Never lost the lead. I’ve been as harsh as anyone on Mike White but credit where credit is due.

Also not sure what bracketology website you subscribe to but UGA currently is in & would not be in a play in game. To lock up a bid & avoid having to play in Tues or We’d they likely just need one more win. Vandy or 1st round sec. They actually don’t care much about conf record, and last 10 games isn’t a criteria at all.

  • BigDawg61BigDawg61 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

    I agree 100 percent.

As far as "2nd half breakdowns"....UGA had em, no doubt. But, look who they came against. Hell...it seemed like half of the Dawgs schedule, was against a top 15 team. On the road, no less.

In the whole Country....there will be no better prepared team than the UGA Bulldogs. Due mainly to their grinding schedule, and the fact they are peaking at the perfect time....while other teams seen to be losing a step.

I don't know if it's coaching or fate....but, this year is starting to feel like "The Year". Not just for basketball & football, either.
