The NCAA wants to have its cake and eat it too. So sorry, that's not possible. Employee status and collective bargaining is the only logical way forward.
I think now, with football players earning a lot of money, the Universites should stop providing a free education, room and board, insurance, and meals. The players should be paid for their services, so much per game, when the season ends, the paychecks end. At this time either party can move on. Players want to flit around and leave their Program at the drop of a hat? The Program should have the same option.
