The voluminous Phil Steele preseason magazine, packed with so many statistics and passages that reading glasses are sometimes necessary, was noticeably shy on Georgia offensive players.

“But in the world of perception, it’s interesting to think that Georgia remains considered among the championship contenders, even as some players start the season without much of a celebrated identity.”

My guess the disconnect is out of respect for CKS and his accomplishments in the past. And my perception is this is not unusual for the mags. Even on defense, we don’t get a lot of respect for great players. Our guys game minutes are often spread across several good players so there’s no “wow” stats. All that matters is the star players they overlook in the preseason get drafted to the NFL in the first and second rounds.

The dawgs were pretty terrible on offense. 100 something rushing, horrible O line play, QB hurt and gone, and probably the worst wide receivers in the nation. They took a huge step back last year - and supposedly not all the fault of the coaches with injury's and such. This really shouldn't surprise anyone. But, Kirby brought in a new O Line guy to help. He added lots of Wide receiver talent. And we have a QB that really wants to win. It looks very hopeful. But make no mistake, if they don't drastically improve, the wailing and gnashing of teeth will get out of control.

Yet, on October 19, 2024, in Austin, Texas, The Dawgs beat the #1 team in the nation, The Texas Longhorns….by two TD's???

Then The Dawgs go on to beat The Horns again to win the SECC…..the only valid takes from last year is that The Dawgs played the toughest schedule in CF, they suffered an inordinate amount of injuries, they suffered the on again/off again lack luster leadership of a "headcase" QB….but we made the playoffs…..only to surrender to seasonal fatigue and a less talented team that was motivated to play well beyond their talent level…….I look expectantly to the 25 season, where our talent gaps have been "overfilled" and TEAM leadership will prove to set the highest standards seen in the "Kirby era"…..the ONLY wailing and gnashing of teeth will come from our season 25 opponents…….the weeks before they play us and in the locker room after they play us!

Agree with Steele. Frazier is a good RB, but he's certainly not among the best in the SEC. Our RB room has a lot of "potential", but the proof will be in the pudding.

And let's just stop with all the talk about how great our TE room is!! Good grief. Luckie and Delp aren't elite. Period. They are nowhere near as talented as Bowers, Washington, or Tyler Warren. And they haven't even been used very much. The other guys behind them, again, have potential, but Bobo hasn't used the TE room much at all. The OL is average in the SEC at best. Our WR room looks great, but looks can be deceiving.

We've got a LOT to prove on offense this season and tons of new faces.

"How do you like me now?" - Coach Bobo

My question reading this article is how hot is Bobo's seat? We were top 10 in offensive production under Monken resting players halfway through the third and the statistical fall off per minute of starter playing time under Bobo is steep. The biggest change in the championship teams and the last 2 years were our ability to stop the run (not Bobo's department) and our ability to run on 1st and 2nd down (squarely at Bobo's feet).

i would have to think if the offense isn’t putting up 40-45 ppg with all the improvements at WR and his preferred QB under center he will be replaced.

I love bulletin board fodder…keep it up Mr Steele. I'm sure we are as bad and weak at all positions as you think we are. After all, history sure shows Kirby is such a disappointment as a recruiter and developer. And don't even get me going on how bad is motivational skills are…

@Kasey " i would have to think if the offense isn’t putting up 40-45 ppg with all the improvements at WR and his preferred QB under center he will be replaced."

You would think 40 would be the minimum we should score on average.

But if we average say 36 per game amd Bobo is one of CKS's best friends and firing him(how do you fire someone you go on vacations with together?) might change the 5 star #1 Curtis's mind about coming. So there's those 2 things.

My thinking is UGA would have to wet the bed offensively for Bobo to be fired. THen there's the who do you hire thing to replace him? What I'm seeing from CKS is he likes to surround himself with "Georgia people". WHich is fine as long as it works.

i think Kirby likes winning more than he likes Mike. And I think Mike would fall on his sword and “retire” to go watch his kids play.

As far as who will replace Bobo?

Monken took that Ravens job pretty late in the process. Buster Faulkner had gone to Tech, so Bobo made sense from a continuity sense. I talked myself into it. In 2023 it looked like the right call. 2024 not so much. He has no excuses now. And if he is let go in December/January there will be enough time to find a replacement.

There has been word out of Athens that the defense will be back. The offense in 2021 was as good as it was mainly because of the great field position, and the defense and special teams of 2025 should give Stockton some pretty good starts. Kirby is not going down the tubes because his OL is not improved. Camp has not even started, and my prediction is that there will be one, if not two players starting on the OL that nobody is talking about. I actually have a pretty good feeling about it all.
