Reloaded Georgia lacks star power in SEC offensive unit rankings

ATHENS â Georgia football lacks the star power that it has had on offense in past years, but the Bulldogs aim to make up for that with efficiency.

Just block and catch the dadgum ball is all I ask.
Friends, the sixth best offensse in the nation isn't going to get us anywhere near to the Promised Land. Why is everyone giving Bobo so much blind support. Every year he has been the OC our offense has gotten worse than the year before. Why can't we even recruit a single blue chip receiver? Figure it out. Bobo is the problem. At the end of the year perhaps this will become more clear. I hope not, but odds are great that it will…
Xs and Os, Jimmies and Joes…. After Bobo left the first time, he was passed aroung to four different programs I believe in six years. Couldn't keep a job. But now he's back in the woodwork of UGA…. Married to Vince Dooley's daughter has its benefits, you see…
Keep doubting us, I believe this year will be the year that we finally put it all back together, especially on defense. Bobo, will have his chance to shine with proven WR's/TE's and some very talented freshman. My guess is that we see a very different UGA team this year, one that plays hard nosed defense and exploits others teams weaknesses. JMHO tho.
Hoping Woodrow is right! Fingers crossed!
MG doing it again….
Arch is the Heisman favorite…Based on what?
Who has played more significant minutes? GS or Archie
As one person intimated, if he is so great why did a 7th rd. draft never get replaced by the awesome wonder.
Only reason he is the "favorite"….HIS NAME!
Bobo's tight relationship with searls and his unimaginative playcalling have hindered him. They brought in some help at O line with a new coach. If he can get another buster faulkner play designer in the mix, he can greatly improve. He's always been a top notch QB coach. Can the O Line show massive improvement? I really have my doubts.
In my opinion, which isn't worth much, this is his last opportunity at this level. Now or never. I can't see him getting another shot at even a lesser program at Offensive Coordinator. 4 programs in 6 years. Unfortunately, those coaches are expected to win everything, and they are paid handsomely for it. But, I may be wrong.
I still think our Achilles heel is Searles. We wasted a powerhouse of talent last year. Hope I am wrong…..
@Beachwagon
I think you will find that Bobo's wife is the niece of Barbara Dooley and is kin to Vince only through marriage. I doubt this provided much political prowess for Bobo!
Polls and early football prognostications are things I've found to ignore. We've got a great group of guys and I'm optimistic that a number of them will be "stars". We need some good plays Coach. Go Dawgs!
Buster Faulkner would be a great OC for us. He is the offensive equivalent of Schumann…
I agree 100%. A talented group of players who are playing for the person next to them and not for personal glory beats a team with a glory seeking "star" who is trying to achieve individual records. It's like combat, everyone relies on the person next to him to survive and defeat the enemy. Medal hunters, "stars", for the most part receive their medals posthumously.
When Georgia won the 1980 national championship they were the lowest ranked preseason team to ever win the title after the rankings expanded to 20 teams. Georgia was 16th in the AP preseason poll. Their one "star" that year on offense was All-American Herschel Walker, the single first team All-American was Scott Woerner, and on Special Teams place kicker Rex Robinson. Herschel was the only consensus All American and he was a true freshman not an established star.
The OL injuries last year took a toll. Greene played lights out in 2023, he will more than likley return to that form. The one I'm worried about is Freeling. I don't remember him playing lights out even before he was injured. When camp begins the starting OL will immediately be under the microscope. The running back room looks preety good now that Rod Rob is back. The defense will be back as well. I'm exited about the season, look at the holes Ohio St. has to fill. Dawgs will be right there in the end.
word is Monroe was hurt too
A simple but yet Explosive comment on your part. And So true. Led CFB in Dropped passes. But Still made it to the playoffs. What If Dawgs receivers would have caught only Half of what they dropped ? And there were dropped passes vs ND that certainly didn’t help the cause.
SO if the Dawgs have improved in those two areas and I Hope and Believe they have. They will be a very dynamic and explosive team !! Bobo, Searls, the O Line, Gunner, the Receivers including the TEs and a unproven RBs unit ALL know they are under the microscope. The first Huge step in fixing a problem is acknowledging you have it. And I Believe that All these guys realize what needs to happen and will be ( already have) work their butts off to fixing it.
Rise up to the UGA standard. When you’ve worked hard and done all you can do, work harder !! I Believe this Dawgs team has a big chip on their shoulder with a something to prove attitude. Dawgs have been very dangerous when they have that mentality !! I’m Hoping the glamour of B2B Nattys is Long gone !! It Should be. These players Should be wanting to create their own identity and I Believe they will. In the end it comes down to Elite Execution of those basics that you stated. Go Dawgs !!
