Kirby's philosophy for developing and retaining his team has substance. I suspect we will appreciate that even more when he starts his 20th year as Head Dawg!
Is this true?
"However, it is surprising that Kirby Smart and Georgia are not even ranked among the top 10 biggest spenders in the nation."
I can't wait for the shorthorns to show up in Athens.
i don’t think that’s true.
Manning (sizzling steak)….no…ENTITLED!
Stockton (mystery meat)…no…EARNS RESPECT AND LEADERSHIP FOR HIS TEAMMATES!
BTW….Hey Gunner. Even Connor disrespected you with those quips. Trying to be cute or funny.
Failed at both…Just disrespectful…PERIOD!
Dawg Nation, be very happy "AkNup" went for Sark's money….Tyler definitely NOT a Georgia Guy…..All the more reason to keep "Houndin the Horns"!
I know longer pay any attention to commitments. All the recruits have shown themselves to mercenary little pr!cks who are chasing a dollar. None seem to have the ability to look at the long game, i.e. the NFL. They are all chasing the immediate money with no regard to the future.
And Sarkesian speaks with forked tongue. The SEC should have stayed with teams from the geographic region of the southeastern U.S. I hate what the SEC has become and at this point I may give up on college football altogether. It will give me one more day every week to play golf.
Man there will not be one player on this team this year that will not run through a brick wall for KIrby and UGA. Them boys gonna be hungry this year!
Sark said he “doesn’t want kids coming to Texas for money” mere hours after paying Tyler Atkinson $1.5m. You have three kids there from the state of Georgia for that reason—MONEY—Are you trying to kid yourself or us?
Not here to blast kids who don't come to Georgia. We have Texas and California and Florida and Tennessee kids and you name it, on our roster. So, it cuts both ways. I don't care about recruiting the way I once did, though, because coaches don't truly have to "recruit" anymore. It used to be fun to see if Smart or Saban or Spurrier could just outmaneuver folks or convince a kid that they really could develop him better than anyone else. But now, all coaches have to do is see if their budget can handle whatever a kid is requesting. If so, they offer him that and then you just hold on to see if some other school is willing to beat it (cause you know he's going to leave you if they do). I know Kirby says it's about "relationships" at UGA, but quite frankly, ALL coaches claim that. The Texas coaches are saying that now about the Atkinson kid. But if there was no NIL, Georgia would almost certainly have Atkinson, Jermaine Johnson and Justus Terry. But it's all about the money, which is why I hope they get a salary cap. Let schools spend whatever they want, but they all have the same limit. Then, maybe we can get back to some for or "real" recruiting. Go Dawgs!
