".......contained “a green leafy substance,” two packs of suspected THC gummies and full and empty boxes of rolling paper. Further inspection of the vehicle revealed a grinder, a portable rolling table and more rolling paper."_____DawgNation

Good Lord....Lolol..…this kid could teach a course on the subject.

You gotta respect that kind of commitment. Lol. He deserves a 2nd chance.....and a few laps around Athens for being such a knucklehead.

I'm surprised there isn't a lot more of this, after the 2020 shutdown that kept kids of certain States [California] out of school and away from anything fun.....for nearly 2 years! That group of young people, that were in Middle School, at the time, are just hitting the market.

Jackson was one of em....and, California was/is one of the worst States in the US, to raise a family...or, grow up innocent. Kirby SHOULD fix him, if he can. He has my support, until there's a reason not to give it. Lol

I thought Teslas had tinted windows? Bt the officer could see that neither of his hands were on the steering wheel? Sounds phoney to me.

Lol....yeah, I thought the same thing.

I'd be curious to know, how many [& ratio] UGA Students get pulled over for "suspicion"...but, not get charged for anything, cause they weren't breaking a law?. COMPARED TO....the same ratio for "Citizens not classified as Students".

I brag all the time on what an amazing place Athens is for going to college and therefore a solid recruiting chit… Except for one thing – – the dadgum over abundance of various patrol officers chomping at the bit. Of course, drinking/substance and driving is Always a no-no, and excessive speeding is also dangerous. But heaven forbid if you have a tail light out, too much tint on your windows, hands off the wheel, talk on the phone, don't use your turn signal, or God knows whatever else they wanna find you "guilty" of. I was just flat out lucky I managed 4 years there without a blemish. Go Dawgs!

3.1 OZ? That's not consumption, son that's distribution. "Rolling table"? You roll with your fingers for consumption. You roll with a rolling table for volume (distribution). Again distribution? I'm guessing that the NCAA/UGA doesn't test for marijuana use. Still against the law in GA.

@khummel when you have to police a city of 40,000 young knuckleheads (hooked on Fast and Furious) you have to be more aggressive. The biggest knuckleheads seem to be UGA football players. They seem to always get caught up in the web while they know aggressive police are out there.

I actually believe CKS LIKES the aggressive law enforcement in Athens. 1) that's where he and his family drive around in their cars and 2) weeds (no pun intended) out the less committed/more selfish/ more interested in fun players from the team.

I do have one problem with marijuana law enforcement. "Under the influence" equates to "impaired". There is no threshold like the .08 (low) threshold enforced for blood alcohol content. I have not seen the studies like we saw with alcohol to define when impairment occurs. It is well known that marijuana does not effect motor skills like alcohol does.

As a high profile person, one has to be smarter. If you "must" smoke, then do it at your place not in your car. Don't risk your opportunity to play for the greatest team in cfb over something ****.

Like I said, you need to be held accountable for alcohol/drugs and driving, as well as excessive speeding. While there many moons ago, I saw a murder at a stoplight… in fact, I was in the crossfire, removed a slug from my side mirror which might have save my life. Guy on motorcycle, both hands on the handlebars, car pulls up beside him and takes motorcyclist out. As a witness, I was pretty disappointed in the "rigor" of the prosecution. Serious crimes like that demand the full extent of the law, not so sure about throwing the entire book at teenagers for thoughtless yet non-dangerous offenses. Go Dawgs!

Yep and these kids need to stop F******* around start being a little more private with thier affairs. the only good thing, and I mean the only good thing that comes from this is no speeding was involved. For whatever that is worth.

Do Athens police aggressively police the streets of Athens? Yes. Do the Athens police have a meeting every week to discuss how many UGA football players they can arrest? No. Do the Athens police have a meeting every week to reinforce how aggressively they enforce the law against students, young people and generally anyone? Yes.

You have to ask yourself 2 questions. 1) Why can't UGA football players figure out not to break any laws while driving around? 2) How many student's lives have been saved by aggressively enforcing the laws around Athens?

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were privy to Athens police meetings and policy, possibly even stats on lives saved, etc… my bad. I'm a fan of law enforcement and any other means of protecting society. To that point, I was just providing an example of firsthand experience with what seemed like light handling of a murder— killing of an unarmed, defenseless, unaware person yet quick trial that found the "self defense" perpetrator guilty of only manslaughter and a few years in jail, versus cold bolded murder and kept away from society for a commensurate period of time— and wondering whether by comparison if some of the obscure traffic violations might be a little heavy-handed. Go Dawgs!
