Bulldog fans expectations 2025

Kirby Smartâs Dawgs were picked to finish second in the SEC behind Texas in the preseason media poll at SEC Media Days. Alabama was picked third. Most media predictions have the Longhorns beating out Georgia for this yearâs conference title.

Thanks Bill…..I always enjoy your articles. It was mentioned 3-4 times that some of your buddies are concerned about our OL. I agree and think our season will go as the OL plays. If we have a rerun of last season with mediocre OL performances then 9-3 or 10-2 are real possibilities. If the OL improves then 11-1 or 12-0 are possibilities. My concern is we lost a ton of talent on the offensive front and only time will tell if the new line will jell without the talent we had last year. If our line continues its lackluster play then we will struggle and Kirby will have a tough coaching decision to make next January. Let’s cross our fingers that our OL will have a great season because we need them to succeed. Go Dawgs!!!
If Gunner starts beyond the 3rd game, we lose 4.
Bobo as OC (along with his head-scratching playcalling) guarantees we will lose one or two games we shouldn’t. Unfortunately for the Dawgs, history is repeating itself in his return as OC. We’ve only done truly special things with a dynamic OC and Bobo is not him. We are becoming Les Miles’ LSU teams and seem headed down a similar path to Clemson. Dawgs will not get elite playmakers on the outside until we make a commitment to a dynamic OC. This blog is not near critical enough of the slide our offense has incurred over the last couple of years. I hear a lot of excuses and blaming the players. Very thankful for Kirby, just would like to see him paired with a bright offensive mind.

Auburn has an open date before UGA. Auburn has beaten UGA only twice since 2010 game in which late hits by Auburn were cheered but never drew penalties. The tipped ball drill on the hail mary in 2013 and 2017 were the 2 wins. Auburn will be ready for UGA, and Brock Bowers won't be there to save the day.
Texas ALSO has an open date before UGA. Does anyone have a theory as to why the conference wants to give easy schedules to Texas? Texas in 2024 played only 2 SEC teams with winning schedules.
Auburn and money bags Texas will be tough.
Great article, Bill! Can't wait for the season to begin. Winning the SEC last year was great and we did it with some real issues with the OL and WRs. We could have had a better pass rush also. I think at least with the WRs and pass rush, we will be better!
Our success or failure depends mostly on our Offensive Line. Gunner is a leader and will do just fine if he is given enough time to operate.
An easy 2 year schedule was probably demanded from Texas as a stipulation to join the SEC.
This team's success will be whether they can keep the game-to-game mentality in check and not the results of one game carry over to the next. This is where we need the younger players to be leaders by leading by example and backing their voice with their game results. If the leadership evolves, this team will flourish. The one game that we should become Georgia Blitz is the Texas game, sick of hearing about AM, just because of last name. Let's make an example of why Georgia's Defense is back.
Manning will have to have more improvement than Stockton from what I've seen. I believe the shorthorns leave Sanford with a win when I see it. With Bama , who knows. At Auburn at night will be tough, and if Lagway is healthy UF as well. IMO it will be the biggest wait and see season of Kirby's tenure.
I think you listed around 100 opinions, but concerned you may have missed some other completely unkown people with irrelevant opinions. I’m sure those you “reported” on are very fine folks, but their opinions are as irrelevant as mine & my buddies or my Bulldog & German Shepherd pontificating about the Dawgs.
As it was the first new DN article in about a week, I tried to read the piece, but cried mercy about 1/2 way through and decided to voice my own irrelevant opinion.
I think our defense could be really good. DL is a little bit of a concern, but if some new starters step up, we could be outstanding. LB corp is deep. As many have said the OL is a concern. We will see how much they have improved in the off season. Gunner will need time to throw and needs to make good reads/decisions. He has to see the whole field. I don't think he did this in his limited playing time last year. He has really good running ability and I'm sure he will use it. I think he could be that gritty, scrappy, fighter, quiet leader, winner that we all think he is. He has a lot of weapons around him and I think we have the receivers this year to challenge defenses. The TE room is absolutely loaded. Play calling could really cross up defenses, and present match up problems. Patience will be a key for Gunner, short 5,6,7 yard passes and let our athletes get the additional yardage. Adding in a few deep shots along the way wouldn't hurt either. Sounds simple doesn't it. haha
CKS mentioned this is one of his youngest teams in recent history. That concerns me. Maybe I am alone in this, but I’m not worried about the offense. Receivers, running backs, and offense line will all be better this year making us more balanced. If they let Gunner run some we could be dangerous. Defense worries me at DLine - I think we have a few solid Players, but can everyone stay healthy? Not a lot of depth at outside linebacker or edge either; can they stay healthy? I’m not worried about the secondary, But if we are struggling on the line and the edge, any quarterback with time and with good receivers can beat a good secondary. You can’t guard someone forever. I could easily see us going 11-1 or better with health but 9-3 if we lose a few key players for part or all of the season.
BINGO, tnt3ball…..it's all about leadership and weekly focus…..one win at a time….allow me to allay your concern….not only do The Dawgs have a George Patton field general as QB in Gunner, both offense and defense have their Eisenhowers and McArthurs…..O-Line, Greene, Hughley, Bobo plus Depth, Delp, Luckie, Thomas and WR room, Frazier and McCray at RB, and the D-Line Miller, Hall, McLeod, Harris, Modozie and watch out for Griffin, DB Bolden, Everette, OLB G Harris, Modozie, ILB R Wilson…..I also predict there will be other Freshmen to step up beside Griffin….when you've got leadership and focus then add 4 & 5 star talent 2-3 deep……I'll be the first to say, The Dawgs will be undefeated in the regular season, take the SECC then win another Natty.
Undefeated National Champions…
(Yes, we have a young team. So what?)
Go, Dawgs!
