Good riddance to the instant money grabbers. They would have NEVER made it as a UGA Bulldog anyway. The work ethic, winning culture, and development at UGA was too much for them to sacrafice for a better future. Instead, they took the easy way out, and let money be the deciding factor. I wouldn't suprised if at least 1/2 of those players enter the transfer portal within 2 years.

That is interesting that we have ALWAYS came away with a 5* defensive recruit but this year.... NO! Its interesting because of all the NFL draft picks we have had. I really wished these recruits would be honest and say why they dont want to succeed at UGA!!!!

UGA needs to take the effort that they dedicate towards landing the top 2-3 TEs in each class and redirect it to recruiting WRs and RBs. Their current approach is counterproductive. UGA starts 3 WRs and regularly plays 5. At tailback they have a "1 and 1a" approach to starting with the 3rd RB getting a lot of carries too. But UGA rarely gives that many touches to the backup TEs.

Before anyone says "Mike Bobo" realize that, except for 2022, Todd Monken didn't either, and this was with Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington being decidedly better than any TEs that UGA has had before or since. The reason for this: a good season for an average starting TE is 450 yards and 3 TDs. Give 2 TEs the same amount of playing time that, say, Swift and Holyfield got in 2018 and you get 800 yards and 5 TDs. Those are numbers for a single player, the #2 WR or a backup tailback in a good pro style offense. (Or the slot WR in a spread offense like Carnell Tate at Ohio State last season.)

"The goal of adding a 5-star WR to this class for the second straight cycle also never really took flight."

Yet UGA would have signed Bowman, Prothro, Keyes and Fogle at TE - 4 guys! - if they could have. That would have given them four blue chip TEs in a single class when compared to a single blue chip player among the WRs and RBs combined. When - again see above - you ideally play EIGHT GUYS (5 WRs, 3 RBs) at those two positions but only give heavy playing time to a single TE. It really doesn't make any sense.

guys like Bowman and Prothro can flex all over the field and aren’t typical inline TEs. As someone who knows it all you should know that. Position-less football can help confound a defense and catch them out of position and lead to chunk plays.

Plus a guy like Prothro outside with 4.5 speed? Along with an Ethan Barbour or Elyiss Williams lined up wide? And an RB with pass catching abilities in the backfield. With Sacovie White in the slot. Have fun defending that. And I’ve done that while saving $ for LOS where the game of football is really won.

UGA would not have taken Fogle if it had taken Bowman. But that isn't the whole story. You cannot ignore the economics. If Bowman is getting "$8-10M" how much are the 5* WR's getting?

You don't understand CKS and what he is trying to do if you think he will pay up for unproven freshmen players. He had to at QB, he doesn't have to at WR and especially at RB. Every year there are RB's in the TP that can help any team. AL got Gibbs. OSU got Judkins. IF the UGA OL steps up this season expect McCray to contribute.

5* TE/WR Prothro can give you some production at WR for at least 2 yrs at UGA. With Wiley, Taylor and Prothro not sure you need a 5* WR every recruiting cycle. Especially with UGA's WR by committee and proven TP additions.

@Kasey I wrote this before I read your comments. Barbour does have some position flex as does Prothro. "Saving Money" may be more about budgeting money. Do you buy 5* players at the same position every cycle? That is not a smart strategy unless you have unlimited cash like USC, TX and OSU.

As far as UGA#1 '26 recruiting class, great! BUT every guy UGA missed on was replaced by a lesser rated guy in the class. That is the economics of NIL but you have to wonder when/if that will catch up with UGA eventually.

We get upset when a kid grabs a bag of $$$, but many of them come from mediocre economic conditions and the guaranteed $$$ can be life-changing for their families. Yes, they can develop at UGA, but that still is no guarantee of NFL $$$. Many NFL rookies even make less. It is what it is.
