OL will be the key for Georgia offense this year.
This has been my chief concern going into '25… after this article, presuming it's not just hype, I'm feeling pretty optimistic! Now, just gotta keep the injury bug away🤞
Call me a buzz kill, but I'll believe it when I see it. Georgia clearly had the talent last year but, for whatever reason, didn't show up. Hopefully this year's group has more edge, more nasty, more bad intent , more pride. Go Dawgs!
Just to elaborate a bit, you might say they weren't coached up or schemed properly last year… but way too often our guy just got whipped. Yes, OL can be complicated work; but above all else, you gotta be tougher and meaner than the guy on the other side of the trench. Go Dawgs!
We will soon see. If we’re 4-0 by the end of September, then the OL will have shown some improvement.
Go Dawgs!
Excellent news! Now the guys just have to keep improving and gelling as a group….and stay away from the injury bug!
I’m kind of with you. I’m cautiously optimistic. Thought last year we would annihilate everyone and beginning with that Clemson game something felt off. I wanna see it this year before I raise my expectations
It's surprising that members of last year's offensive line did so well in the draft, but were not that highly regarded on the field.

"It's surprising that members of last year's offensive line did so well in the draft, but were not that highly regarded on the field."
I have said the exact same thing! 2-3 draftable OL every year and 4 star RB's and so often when a back gets the ball he's met behind the line of scrimmage or at the line of scrimmage for no gain or they have to run around the backfield juking and jiving trying reversing the oringinal direction the play was intended to go in order to find a seam somewhere. creating something on their own.
THere seems to be a disconnect between the talent level out of HS and as perceived by the NFL after a few years at UGA and outcomes on the playing field.
Agreed. Before last season started, with the guys in that room, I was predicting a return to the road grading days. Just didn't happen. Go Dawgs!
I want to hear about the #2's. Number 1's play harder when they see #2 coming along quickly. I'm not sold on all this. I'm hopeful, but they have a lot to prove after last year. Scheme's also matter. Comfortable in those scheme's or rather dominant in those schemes.
The talent has always been there. So, one wonders why the O-line has been a noticeable weakness? We lost the two most valuable men re O-line efficiency. That would be Pittman and Luke imo.
IF and again IF these guys can play at a pretty good level on a Consistent basis then I think we’ll be hearing people say How Bout Them Dawgs !! I’d dearly Love to see them play at Elite level, but honestly based on last year I’d settle for “ pretty good” as long as they are Consistent at pretty good from game to game. Go Dawgs !!
Offensive line isn't just about talent; it's also about cohesiveness, and the Dawg's OL wasn't very cohesive last year because of injury. This is true for the OL unit more than any other unit on the field. An OL can often be better or worse than the sum of its parts. Another huge factor in the running game is the blocking of the TEs and WRs. Darnell Washington was huge, both literally and figuratively, in the Dawgs' running game in 2021 and 2022 and Brock Bowers was a willing blocker. I don't expect Delp and Luckie to be at their level, but they'll have to give a solid effort to produce explosive runs. Hopefully, the majority of the starting five will stay healthy and develop the cohesiveness they need as a unit.
The offensive line needs to train at 110% this year if we hope to excel. It was excruciating watching Notre Dame through our offensive linemen around like styrofoam during the CFP last year. Embarrassing really. How Searles kept his job after that is beyond me…
Anyway, boys, look forward, not backward. There is Glory at the end of the road if you put in the work and keep chopping!
