Can we please skip the part where you folks write articles every week about players who have left the Dawgs? He is a Cane now - save the space for articles about the lads in Athens please.

I was actually really interested in this game: Number one, because of Beck and, number two, because I want ANYONE to beat notre dame.

I was very happy to see Beck do well. This isn’t like your standard kid who left a program for a better deal. Beck had no choice but to leave, even after leading the team in ‘23 to what we all knew deserved the playoff and likely 3rd straight NC. We got jobbed by that alabama loss in the SECCG and everyone knew we were the best team out there. Beck was a 5th year player with a UGA degree who wasn’t run off but was shown the writing.

I really don’t understand the dislike for him. I never saw him boast and he always spoke humble. He stayed in the shadows for three years when others in the same situation left or made demands. The kid was a DGD and I absolutely was interested in his game and wish him success (until we play him).

I don't understand the dislike for Beck either. Beck sat and waited for his time to start for years—never crying or moaning about his playing time. He was always respectful to the program and to others. Carson Beck won a lot of games for us. I hope he is successful and does well wherever he is playing.

I have to admit I was lukewarm entering the game last night about who I was pulling for (perhaps somewhat influenced by social media crap). I then remembered my daddy always reminded me that ND was his second favorite team. His favorite team was who they were playing. After the game started, I could not help pulling for Carson. It was really great to see him recover from the injury in the SEC championship game. He has always spoken well. However, in his post game interviews, it was clear that he has matured as a player and person. Let's not forget how complimentary our guy GS has been of his mentoring.

agreed. Wish him well in any game except one against us. Hope he can ruin the gators day in a couple weeks.

Miami will do well this season coz they don’t plant tech 😂

Beck looked good. Game would not have been as close if Miami coaches hadn’t gone ultra conservative with play calling in second half. The man can sling it. Let him throw more.

Beck did some good things for Georgia. He also didn’t handle the money situation very well, which was mentioned in the article, and in turn seemed to alienate some of his teammates, especially with the purchase of the Lamborghini. He didn’t get a lot of help with all of the dropped passes last season, but a lot were thrown too hard. He also tried to do too much, resulting in doubling his interceptions last season. I hope he’s learned and grown a lot. I don’t like either team that played last night, but I guess I was hoping he’d do well. Unfortunately it might have shown that if Georgia had him vs ND, the outcome might have been different. Of course if that had been the case without the injury, he’d be in the NFL and not in Miami right now.

I thought CB played pretty well. The Miami coaches definitely took a play out of CKs's book with the lead and basically just went run up the gut to run the clock down. It almost came back to bite them though as you throw momentum out the window and give the other team hope and old "Mo" switches to the other sideline. And when you try to get "Ole MO" back he doesnt want to listen to you. You could see panic in the eyes of the Miami coaches, Like Oh crap, what have we done?"

End the end the defense finally got a couple of sacks. I'll be honest with you at thius stage of the game, Iwas impressed with the defenses of MIami, Notre Dame, Ohio St, and Cemson and LSU. THey were all very physical.

I was also impressed with their O-lines and the physicality of their RB's. IF I'm being honest, we're not to their level yet. THat atmosphere last night was electric, same with Clemson and LSU.

I think Notre Dame for the past 2 seasons is the most well coached team I have seen. THey are fast and physical and rarely commit penalties. And before last season, I couldn't stand them. THeyseem to get the most out of their players.

@David1 No, people used Carson Beck as a scapegoat for the coaching staff's recruiting failures.

… didn’t handle the money situation very well, which was mentioned in the article, and in turn seemed to alienate some of his teammates, especially with the purchase of the Lamborghini.

Stetson Bennett IV didn't handle his NIL stuff any better. SB IV just had the loaded team around him that Beck never did.

He didn’t get a lot of help with all of the dropped passes last season, but a lot were thrown too hard.

Except that A. Beck didn't have the dropped passes in 2023 when Bowers, McConkey, Rosemy-Jacksaint and Thomas were catching the ball plus Edwards and Milton were running it. And that the drops continued when Gunner Stockton took over.

He also tried to do too much, resulting in doubling his interceptions last season.

QBs "try to do too much" because they aren't getting help from their supporting cast. RBs Mark Fletcher and CharMar Brown plus WRs CJ Daniels and especially Malachi Toney were better than anyone Beck played with at UGA in 2023.

That said, Beck wasn't great last night. Missed some open receivers and apparently just doesn't have accuracy on vertical passes. Whatever NFL team that gets him is going to have to design an offense around intermediate passes into tight windows with the TE, split end and slot WR while the flanker won't get to do much except be a decoy to keep defenses honest. In a more rational NFL that would be a 2nd or 3rd round pick that would get to sit a couple of years while their team constructs a team and playbook around him, but today's NFL - one where Cam Ward goes #1 overall and Shedeur Sanders would have gone #2 overall had he been willing to play the game - means that Beck will be a #1 draft pick just by putting up big numbers and getting Miami to the playoff against an easy schedule. Which is the opposite of what Beck needs for his long term development prospects.

CBeck looked good. Very polished at the position. I wondered how he would throw coming off that injury/surgery. Carved ND up until the Mia OC tried to run out the 2nd half clock with very predictable running plays. Looked like a Bobo offense in the 2nd half. Makes you wonder how UGA would've done vs ND last year had CBeck played.

i think we lose to Ohio in the playoff final if Beck was healthy.

The refs were letting them play. Lots of grabbing each others facemasks after the whistle and the refs just got between them and broke it up. Then late in the game when notre dame had the ball and down by 2 TDs they started lighting Miami up with penalties. Looked like the refs were going to decide the game for them. Thought i was watching bama play them.

I wasn't pulling for Carson Beck. Why would I? He plays for the Miami Hurricanes. I really do wish I could tell what I know about why Beck was not especially well liked at UGA — including by many of his teammates and some coaches — but I can't because I was told things in confidence. But believe me, the emotional, humbled, magnanimous Carson Beck that we saw and heard in post-game interviews Sunday night was NOT the Carson Beck that played at Georgia last year. Miami won the game and that's what counts. But Beck did not play that well, especially in the second half. Notre Dame lost that game because they tried to get cute on 2nd and 2 midway through the fourth quarter when they had ALL the momentum, and threw that **** (and totally unnecessary) interception. The field goal Miami got from that turnover was the difference in the final score. If not for that turnover, I'm convinced Notre Dame secures a stunning comeback victory and the narrative about Beck is totally different. If Beck gets pressured, he'll throw the ball up for grabs. He did it last night late, Notre Dame just couldn't get to the ball.
