"If Georgia were to play a pass-happy offense, one wonders if maybe Smart, Glenn Schumann and Travaris Robinson feel comfortable about possibly playing all three cornerbacks at once and moving Aguero to safety."……"pass-happy" offense….OH!, you mean like The Vols this weekend???? I believe I'm counting on it! Then, of course who will stuff the middle and who will press the sides to box in Aguilar???…..I know I've got my picks and can't wait for more "Knoxville Tooth Gnashing"…..How do you starve Ole Smokey…..The Dawgs blanket receivers and stuff the run….leaving Ole Smokey howling in hunger.
"London Humphreys was fighting for extra yards to pick up a third down."
The best way to pick up a third down is to go down short of the line-to-gain during the second-down play. The defense will help you accomplish that; you don't have to fight for it! LOL
GO DAWGS!
We're gonna need all of the defensive stops that we can muster—-which is greatly helped by pressure on their new QB by our defensive line.
Must admit, as hard as it was, I also watched the game again. While fumbles are inexcusable momentum swingers at least both of these happened with both players giving extra effort to make a big play, neither seemed from lackadaisical carelessness. I also counted 7 times where Gunner did not see the open receiver for one reason or another. Hopefully this trend continues to decrease as the game continues to slow down for him and he gets thru his progressions quicker.
Our secondary for all their accolades had several breakdowns that an elite team will exploit for big, I guess it’s called explosive, plays now. But once again, it seemed the major breakdowns were a result of over aggressive play resulting in players out of position and can be corrected via film review and practice.
None of this matters if our offensive play calling is as predictable and vanilla as it has shown to be so far, and I recognize a lot of that has to be because of the first two game’s competition…or at least for Bobo’s sake I hope so. Let me close by saying I like our defense and I like the effort and attitude of the offensive players so far, go Dawgs…time to take down them orange prisoner jumpsuit colored Vols on Saturday!
As Jake Fromm implied on today's DawgNation Daily, he anticipates a vanilla offense tomorrow from UGA due to the injuries and inconsistencies of the offense line playing in the sonic chaos of Neyland Stadium. I can only hope that will be sufficient.
Glover was a revelation. 6'3" 320-pound true Freshman. He needs to be on the field. With Hughley on the right side. I am now an official Langston Hughes HS fan. I think the OL improved on stunt pickup (and AP stunted like crazy with some crazy stunts). Still a long way to go.
Re: Gunner. Both Marshall and AP played cover 2 or cover 3 deep all game. The long ball was not there. The D was giving us mid-range. However, I too saw a bunch of plays where he saw the open man (I don't think he missed them) and did not pull the trigger for some reason. Either checked down or ran. So yes, no big play. But always positive yardage and no INTs. Heck, half the pass plays called are nothing more than extended handoffs anyways.
If Nate puts the ball on the ground (trying to do too much), Nate should sit a while and calm down. This team does not need any single player to be superman. Besides, Phillips (another revelation), Bowens and Cash have been outstanding.
Finger's crossed for this next one.
I agree move Aguroe out the starting lineup. Let #1 Robinson play the slot. Keep #31 and #2 opposite of KJ. Bolton.. #8 is lost in pass coverage. # 24 Kelly is the 1st cornerback off the bench. Kelly is a baller
how is 8 in run support?
