“Yeah they grew up, I mean, look, the defense for two weeks has heard about how good they are and they got punched in the face,” Smart said after the No. 6-ranked Bulldogs pulled out a 44-41 overtime win over the No. 15-ranked Vols.

I must be missing something when I look at Ellis Robinson. He seems “small” when compared to other corners and wide receivers. Adequate but not outstanding speed. Yet be was not only a 5 star coming out of college, he was one of the top players overall. Is the talent there, or did the recruiting rankings overate the player?

I disagree with coach. Tennessee had no defense. If we learn how to score TDs instead of FGs then it’s not close at the end. One thing is our DBs and pass rushers need to pick it up but there was a lot of holding on the Tenn offense that closed down our rush. Offense line comes together this could be a team that can cause problems for other teams. Hey coming back to win after being down twice like we were at a place like Tennessee calls for celebration. Need a TD and a 2 pt conversion to even stay in the game and got it done.

Secondary looked so lost yesterday. Why were the defenders constantly playing 3-5 yards off the receivers? Set up Tenn to make so many catches. Our pass rush was non-existent too. If you are constantly putting pressure on the QB, they don't have time to pick apart your secondary. Go Dawgs!!

I remember when we were recruiting Robinson—he was a very highly touted and a much sought after DB but, I agree, he looked lost yesterday.

it was also his first SEC game I believe. He will get better. Much like Gunner did/does…he needs some seasoning.

I hope you're right and believe you are.

    That said…

We need to show up in only two weeks. @VenomGA is right, but exactly how to accomplish it is beyond my pay grade.

Perhaps Kirby & Company will elect to put out best cornerback on Alabama's best receiver? Perhaps our defense will blitz a bit? The guys making the big bucks are in the position to assess the pros and cons of the options.

If our defense had some notions about being all world or anything like that, they now understand how far from a (perhaps) all world ceiling they are.

    Go, Dawgs!

I want to see more of Kyron Jones and Joenel Aguero. Those guys are punishing and bring it every play…real Junkyard Dawgs.

I don’t think our d was really that bad; stepped up when they had to. Outside of the two bombs to brazellton, the passing numbers for tenn were so/so. And that last one to brazelton was a def OPI as he used our corner’s shoulder to elevate as well as it pushing him to the ground. Of course Humphrey got away with a little push off for separation on his fourth down catch as well. So, can’t complain too much abt ref misses.

Obviously a great win. Gunner is getting better and showed he has guts. The lack of a pass rush is very concerning. Yes, DBs need to get better, but it’s tough to cover when a QB is not pressured. Gotta get better at both offensive tackles. Neither Green nor Freeling seem quick enough to pass protect consistently.
