Georgia football 2026 schedule predictions as SEC moves to nine-game conference slate

The schedules will have three annual opponents and six rotating foes, ensuring that every four-year athlete gets a home-and-away game against every conference member.

I'm sure some will disagree, but I'm not enthused at all about the new 9-game SEC schedule.
Yes, it will give fans another, likely great, SEC game for Dawgs fans each season... but at what price? There can be NO denying that the SEC is the toughest, most physical conference in football. Only the very top of the Big 10 is even close. Just look how many SEC teams are in the current AP Top 25.
So, now the SEC will continue walloping itself for another year and roll into the CFP selection: 1) with likely more injuries (look how most SEC teams already struggle after beating on each other for eight games... remember trying to win a third natty with Brock and Ladd playing hurt?), 2) likely less SEC teams making the selection of 12, and 3) less likelihood of a championship vs teams that play in leagues of less physical teams during their regular season.
Am I saying we need the same or more of the Austin Peay, UMass, UT-Martin, etc. crowd? No. But how about a random ACC, Big 10, or Big 12 opponent? I'd sure rather have the Dawgs' ninth game be a Virginia, Northwestern, or Colorado than Oklahoma, Arkansas, or even Vandy (all names picked at random).
Yes, the horse is out of the barn, I know. But I worry not just for UGA's or the SEC's championship prospects, but the players on SEC teams themselves. This is one case where I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze, so to speak (Almighty TV dollars aside).
LSU at home would be cool, hopefully an electric night game experience.
then you have a team like Notre Dame that doesn't play in a football conference and play a championship game while others do…..but I guess Notre Dame will always Notre Dame until someone says NO - who can blame them, right?
Completely agree! Ironically, just this past weekend, my wife asked me why I dislike Notre Dame so much... it's exactly what you said. Until Notre Dame joins a conference, they should have at worst a one loss season to even be considered for the CFP. What they're doing now is borderline cheating, IMHO, and they know it 🤬
@Kudzu your last 4 words are all that seems to matter anymore, follow the money…

the issue is those OOC p4 teams won’t schedule UGA. I believe Sankey got assurances he would get more at large playoff bids if he went to a 9 game schedule and the ticket sales for a conference game will be much higher than a paycheck game. It’ll **** for those small programs who will lose out on that money though.
Would love to see AU, AL, and UT as our permanent SEC. EffUF! Or Vandy, Kentucky, and USCe.
and make them wear road COLORS!!!
If those assurances were indeed made, that's at least a little encouraging... I still worry about player health though. Time will tell!
UGA gets the short of things due to the neutral site game AND having an out of conference rival. They're not alone on the rival thing, but combining it with the neutral site game and only Florida can feel that pain.
Since Kirby Smart’sDawgs are off this week, I’m dipping into the Junkyard Blawg archives with this look at two past posts about “Big Jim” Wilson and Bill Goldberg, a pair of former UGA football players who achieved fame in that combination of athletics and show business known as professional wrestling.

This article is very logical and makes perfect sense on what should happen. That alone makes me think it won't happen like this. This all hinges on KY being the 3rd permanent opponent.
so why don’t they just let Georgia and Florida play a home and home while away from Jacksonville? Make no sense
Either: a) because everyone will get a real taste of how awesome home and home would be (rather than just fantasizing about it) and the noise to drop JAX would get louder or b) because JAX money just too good to give up. Thinking money.
