It is obvious that we do not have the same calibre of talent that we had during the two years we won the NC games. As bad as it is to lose, this one (Bama) game was close enough to be in the W column had a couple of plays gone our way. So, barring a let down we should be able to beat anyone on our schedule, if we can play the whole game like we play the 2nd half.
good lord man this is like the 4th version of the same post
@GaDawgNTexas ,
That’s good preaching right there!
good preaching!
As someone else said, failing to kick the field goal on 4th and one was probably the largest mistake in coaching. I sort of get trying to "surprise" Bama with going quick, but that should have been an attempt ONLY to get them to jump offsides. Then call timeout, and decide what to do. Either kick the field goal to tie the game, or put in an appropriate running back for a 1 yd. run. McCray would have been ideal. You also have someone like Dillon Bell in there. If Bama brings in the beef to counter McCray, you fake to him and run something wide with Bell. A fake to McCray sucks in almost everyone, and the single yard is likely to happen on the outside. Or maybe McCray and another back, using McCray like a traditional fullback/lead blocker with the back following him, or using the other back . Even with that, I think kicking the FG to tie the game would have been best.
Not taking the FG, not only took away points but you just gave Mo back to Ala. Sorry coach, ya done messed up on that one…
