Kirby Smart encouraged Georgia players are âaffected and hurtâ after Alabama loss

âOur guys are fired up, got work done yesterday, and a bunch of them came in,â Smart said on Monday. âI think when you see our guys, you realize how invested they are when they hurt. Itâs good when guys hurt, because you hurt relative to how invested you are in something.â

"... that part excites me to get to work today."
I think this is a good sign that CKS is again showing great leadership and that his "10 out of 10 times" will be in the rearview mirror as he continues to work with this highly talented (admittedly young) roster to take it to the next level.
If anyone in CFB can do it, Kirby can. Will he succeed? Will the team succeed? No clue... but I'm both hopeful and loyal.
Wishing all out there in DN land a great week and excited for the redemption tour to being this Saturday at noon :)
Glad to see that the players are fully invested and hopefully will continue to improve. That was a gut wrenching loss that was as much of our own makings as what Bama did on the field.
But Mike, I'd say we have as much work to do on offense as we do on defense. When you can't score points time and again when you need to then something is terribly wrong. And we couldn't on Saturday.
I'm expecting explosive plays and a beatdown of the CATS on Saturday. I don't care that it's Kentucky. If these guys have TRULY been impacted then the FANS need to see the team react appropriately. And I hope that will continue the rest of the season.
High school "ain't" college football…now the Georgia younguns are becoming more invested as they see it is the pathway to eventual success. Kirby is good at underpinning the true value of team play. This can only benefit game outcomes in the future.

"I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost, and laughed about it afterwards." General George Patton. Good to hear the troops are angry, and they should be. In this loss, we did learn a few things IMO… First, Chauncey Bowens is your new # 1 RB with Josh McCray being the goal line specialist choice. Hell, give Bo Walker a shot as well. Right side of the O line is still weak. Put Dontrell Glover at RG and Bo Hughley at RT and leave it alone. Juan Gaston is a behemoth, no doubt, but he's too slow. Lose some more weight, work on your foot speed and then we'll talk… Hence, the total whiff on the block on the controversial 4th and 1 call near the goal line. While we're talking O line, hey Sam Pittman can ya hear me? Come back and get these kid's minds right, Searels is apparently in over his head… Defense? First and foremost where the Hell is the Pass Rush? Wasn't Elo Modozie supposed to be a wreaking ball? Yeah, he's finding out that the AAC ain't the SEC and it's messing up our world… Ellis Robinson IV, 5 * my foot. Getting beat continually and then piling on after the whistle… Return your NIL money; you haven't earned one penny. Hey Kirby, find a grinder to play CB who REALLY wants to be the man. And last but not least the coaching staff… You all need to take a good look in the mirror. You're not preparing these guys to play at max velocity. There are three position groups that are notably worse this year: O Line, DBs and ILB. Quit making excuses like "we're a young team…" Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill, especially when youth and skill aren't being taught right… If I'm Searels, T-Rob and Dante Williams, I'd be seeking out the best Realter in the area… Schumann, Will Muschamp awaits… No need to say anything about Bobo, we've all beat that horse to death; Kirby is loyal to a fault… Last year we manned up and won the SEC. Will it happen this year? Well, the way I see it, at least right now, Ole Miss is yet again the biggest obstacle, Texas has a Manning problem, Auburn has regressed to… well, just being Auburn , and last but definitely not least, Haynes King is pissed, and the insects are out for blood. So again I ask: "Are you guys going to buck up and play to your potential?" That's a $64 question…
You make some good points but I beg to differ with you about our O-line being "notably worse this year." Our line is much better than last year — heck the 227 rushing yards Saturday are the most for us against Bama in the Kirby era. Our backs have been running well all year, and Stockton has not routinely been running for his life. An improved O-line is the reason for that. Have they missed some key blocks? Yes, ALL lines do, even in the NFL. Would Pittman be an upgrade over Searles? Probably, but it's unlikely we'll get him, especially in mid-season. It's easy to just jump on "the freshmen" as messing up, but I think they're playing quite well, TO BE FRESHMEN. And as for the missed block on the 4th and 1, as MANY people have said, maybe he shouldn't have even been in that position in the first place. We should have kicked the field goal. Go Dawgos!
LMAO!!! One of my all time favorite quotes: "Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill"... thanks for brightening the start of the week! 👍💪🤠
You are 100% correct on kicking the field goal. I can see it in the 1st or 2nd quarter but we had completely took the momentum in the 2nd half. In the 4th quarter down by 3, you take extra point length field goal, tie it up and keep the momentum. The offense drove down the field and got all the air **** out of them on that decision and it showed in the last 2 possessions after that. Alabama got fired up and Georgia went flat. When Kirby left the offense on the field on 4th, I was yelling kick the field goal, kick the freaking field goal. I was really hoping he was just going to try and draw them offsides.
Oh well, we just shrunk that error margin to a fine line now. Probably can't afford anymore L's because you know the committee will try and keep the Dawgs out, they proved that year before last. I'm a Dawg fan to the core and be here until the end, but I sure hope our secondary grows up in a hurry.
it's on Kirby, he tries to hard against me bama
I want to hear the coaches are hurting too. This loss was on them as much as the players.
I sure wish the "Hurt" had come at the hands of somebody else. For crying out loud, we have to start beating Alabama! As they say, "to be the man , you've got to beat the man". I hope this one thing doesn't become Kirby Smart's legacy!
Nobody gives a rats ass about Kentucky. We lost to Alabama AGAIN, This loss is as much if not more on the coaching staff as it is the players. The defensive line didn't get through to disrupt Simpson the whole game very little or no edge rushing, as good as he is you can't let him have that kind of time to make plays. Where were you at Schumann? NOW we wait ANOTHER YEAR to see if we can beat Alabama. Get it together guys, GO DAWGS
Easy for Smart to say not to worry about the team's and the coaches' abysmal performance last Saturday night. After all, he got paid a million dollars in one night to lose on national television in stupendously **** fashion from his entire incompetent game plan and lack of development of one of the largest stables of elite talent in the country. Dawgnation must not take this sitting down. Loyalty is the enemy of exccellence when it comes to the sorry state of UGA's coaches…. Including Smart. He has defnitely lost his Mojo and has no motivation to regain it. I have lost all interest in the Kentucky game after that pitiful night.
It already has.
