way to throw your players under the bus on the 4th down play just to protect your buddy Bobo on the horrible call.

Go Look at the richtbobo years...tight ends used never, slow starts, its a replay of mediocrity.

Funny one article said Stockton got 3 yards then we rushed up to try and get the 1st on 4th. Well, he did get 3 yds which was that was needed for a 1st. Maybe wait for a replay to see he got the 1st. There is a video showing Stockton actually got it. More aggravation.

I felt like I was watching the two best teams in the SEC and I fault the loss to butterhead cutsie coaching/play calls….but we all shall see when The Dawgs play Ole Miss and The Tide plays The Vols…..

    Hard to disagree with CR on most of these points, but I would have expected a further review of the game to find other important (and highly fixable, at least without coaching hard-headedness) points;

    • No use of Gunner's legs until the third quarter, and modest use even then when there were lanes available. CKS in numerous pressers said this was his best feature... why no use?
    • Zero TE usage. Why? And I don't mean just blocking. We have an awesome TE room and a great history here. I'm sure the TEs themselves are quite frustrated.
    • Minimal pressure on Simpson. Even the stiffening up of the defense in the second half still didn't get the QB pressure/sacks this team is capable of. Of all the things we've seen consistently across three games, this is the one I don't get. It's not talent, IMHO. So why?

All of these things, and the majority of CR's points, are addressable... at least by an adaptive coaching staff. However, the biggest (and most annoying, IMHO) one is that for the first time since CKS arrived we're consistently seeing a defensive unit that cannot play elite, even against much lesser foes. The root of all evil appears to be rigidity: I actually think we have capable AC's, but they are all rigid in how they manage their talent. Only CKS can fix this. If he stays inflexible, so will the team... and the completely achievable bump in performance we all hope and expect in the coming weeks may prove elusive.

Here's to hoping Kirby's "worrying" means change!

I'm sure the writer is correct, but the problem isn't just execution. Year in and Year out, Bama scores, Ohio State scores, Ol Miss scores, almost always more than 30 pts. Bad things happen in games to them just like us. We can argue poor officiating, dropped balls, ifs and buts and candy and nuts, but we always start slow and struggle to get more than 30 pts in top games. When you have a young team, more bad things happen, which means you have to be even better.

It's just painful to even read this article, because we played so poorly after a BYE week.

Tired of rehashing the obvious. On to Kentucky...

What stood out was Cash Jones even being in the game in that situation. Unless you have Tom Brady or Pat Mahomes at QB, you don't play a 5'11" 185 lb. guy in the red zone. Well maybe if he is All-SEC but Jones isn't anywhere close. When you are in the red zone, especially inside the 10 yard line, the field shrinks because the CBs and safeties don't have to play deep. Also, with a new QB behind center, everyone knew that UGA wasn't throwing it in the end zone or past the line of scrimmage in that situation. So yes, the DL and LBs were going to get upfield to stop a running play or a swing/screen pass. In that situation you need either a guy with big time elusiveness to make SEC defenders miss or big and strong enough to break SEC tackles. Jones is neither. Quit blaming the OL when the real problem was your having the wrong personnel on the field. The Cash Jones thing was great in 2023 when UGA had only 2 healthy scholarship tailbacks. It is 2025 and now UGA actually has more good - though no great yet - tailbacks than they can play PLUS they have a bigger, stronger, quicker and faster guy in Dillon Bell who can play RB. It made no sense for him to be in the game in that situation - if he should be still getting snaps at all except on special teams - and someone needs to mention that.

So not only did you have to rush to get the 4th and 1 play off, you called a run for a 180 lb walk on RB AND then you called it to the right behind 2 true freshman OL? Why that's BRILLIANT!

"we just have a guy not block a guy that he’s supposed to block.”, CKS. That's why you don't run Cash Jones behind 2 freshman OL. You substitute your big package and bring in McCray to run behind it. You go with your strongest option not try to out cute your opponent. UGA tries to batter their opponents all game until the time comes to batter your opponent. The stupidity is mind boggling. “Really, you know, the fourth-and-1 was a deal where they didn’t line up right,” CKS. Really? Did you think that maybe that might be a good time to call time out and get the right play, alignment and personnel in the game? Kirby starting to sound like Dabo with the excuses.

We could look back later on that play as the difference between winning the SEC and getting a bye in the playoffs and missing the playoffs.

That was after UGA had 2 weeks to prepare for that game. Did you notice the few times when UGA blitzed and AL had a screen play called? Screen play, how novel. That's coaching. AL was playing chess out there UGA was playing tiddlywinks.

Every UGA coach should turn in their paycheck for that game.

@Kudzu...to respond to your valid points I'll say the following concerning the overall state of the program...

We haven't used our TE room adequately since Monken was coaching. It's baffling. I have harped on this issue every year. In 2025, we arguably have the best TE room in the nation, but they rarely get used. We struggle in the passing game when a block and release TE could be an easy completion for a decent gain. That's just one scenario of many.

Gunner is still getting rid of the ball before he needs to on many plays. He also throws the ball so hard on most of his passes and threads a needle that he's lucky those balls aren't tipped and/or intercepted. He doesn't appear to have the same scrambling and agility that Stetson had IMHO. Stetson was a master at eluding tackles and gaining yards on his feet when he had to. I don't see that in Stockton, but that may come with time. Kirby may see the same thing that I'm seeing and doesn't want to put Stockton in harms way unless necessary. Besides, on Saturday, Bowens and McCray were running the ball well enough that Gunner's legs weren’t really needed.

We haven't had a good pass rush (unless we bring the house) in at least a couple of seasons. Poor development? Poor coaching? I have no clue, but it is frustrating to watch with the elite talent we have.

Off topic but…. If Vandy beats Bama, they will be top of our league. I love that Pavia guy. Got to give it to Vandy's coach for finding a whole new offensive philosophy that is crushing opponents. Inventive. Reminds me of a OC we once had.

Freshmen do freshmen things. The transfer portal has destroyed depth and resulted in players having to play before they're ready.

Gaston and Glover dont have a combo block. Glover and bobo do..gaston was responsible for the seal of the edge. I keep seeing this misreported. It was even on another article with a video linked to it. Ive confirmed with multiple other college coaches and analysts as well and it was gastons complete whiff. Not trying to single him out bc he had a good game besides that play, but we should lie blame where it belongs.

The team didnt play well enough. Plain and simple. Pass rush got much more pressure and free runs at simpson than is being reported. He was just exceptional early. Getting rid of the ball in under 2 seconds or 2.5 at most for the large majority of plays to the perfect read. Sometimes you get beat. The sum is guys have to make.the plays in big games. They did not ans they did not execute and that is why we came away with a 3 point loss. We can point to kirbys.decision not to take fg. I also would have.preferred it, but also if the ol doesnt completely miss their block cash Jones moon walks into the end zone as bama was misaligned with only one defender on the right side of the field. So the play call was in our favor. We all saw the missed tackles, fumble, dropped pass and ive mentioned elsewhere all the open wr and te running open that werent thrown to. We just didnt play good enough to win.

We have tried to use the te in every game. Last game they were wide open just like the rest of the wr on numerous plays..gunner did not throw the ball. Whether he wasnt confident or didnt see them is up for debate, but the play calls were made for them. Its also important to.remember we dont have Brock bowers anymore. The majority of targets go to the better players colbie and branch now. However, the notion we are not trying to use them anymore is untrue that I keep seeing. The tape break down shows about 200 yards of open receivers and te during the game that were schemed open and the ball wasnt thrown to them. Unfortunately the plays can only be called and its up to the qb and players to execute.
