Georgia football final grades following fast start, win over Kentucky

Comments
Yes, Connor, I'd say the overall grade is about a B+. Good to see the performance after last week. Now we just need to continue to get better from here and not regress.
Lingering Concerns?
Still no legitimate pass rush or havoc-like suffocating defense.
Secondary still needs work.
O-line played admirably but will this young and banged up group be able to truly hold their own against better competition?
This is a very good young team. We're not going to light the football world on fire or win the Natty, but we just might make the playoffs.
Dillon Bell Elyiss Williams Chauncey Bowens CJ Allen : A
UGa Oline : B
Everyone else : C
We have a long way to go to become a playoff contender this year
Fixed it for you Connor
C+ for special teams is too harsh. They did nothing to put the game in jeopardy. Thornton’s punt that bounced sideways at the one yard line should merit this unit at least a B
“perhaps showing why he isn’t close to unseating Stockton as the starter”
No shade on Stockton but is one interception better than the other? And I gotta be honest, I want a throwing quarterback who can run. Not a running quarterback who can throw. I know Stockton can do both but I’d really like us to throw more.
What justified a “B” for the Tight Ends? I saw no failures in their play, catching what was thrown to them, and some good blocking.
Grades and views are solid but I would throw out the RBs were an A. Likely a bit nit picky given the grade was a B+, but this group has been the most consistent and can take advantage of any openings the line can create. They answered the bell all game with the exception of that missed 4th down run but that is more on the line. Love how the team keeps fresh legs for the RBs but pays attention to who has the hot hand and leans on them a bit more.
Gonna need all that and more next Saturday as the DAWGS travel to the ugliest village on the plains. Go DAWGS!
Stockton accounts for roughly 250 yards running and passing with three TDs and a lone INT deep in the opponent territory and ends with a B- grade but a defense that couldn't get much in the way of penetration and played way too loose in the backfield giving up 2 passing TDs, then comes up with an interception during garbage time, somehow grades out better? Rubbish.
I’d give Stockton at least a B+.
”After the game, Kirby Smart indicated it was just an errant throw by Puglisi, perhaps showing why he isn’t close to unseating Stockton as the starter.”
What??? There is absolutely no chance Pugs ‘unseats’ Gunner, although Pugs seems to be coming along thanks to some runaway games in which he has gotten real game experience.
Unless Stockton is injured, we have our QB1 and he is doing very well for a first year starter—improving on his weaker skills (like staying in the pocket, stepping up in the pocket, release speed, going through his progressions, etc.) with each outing. Just nothing to see here, except that Gunner seems to be progressing nicely towards full blown stud status! 😎
my only two problems would be Peyton’s kickoffs and the pass rush. Everything else looked very good
“Dillon Bell was a real bright spot on Saturday.”
Loved seeing Bell get a lot of action throughout the game. He is a weapon that has gone way under-used until yesterday. His kind of talent will make your QB better and bring frustration to the opponent’s defense!
GO DAWGS!
First you say…."He was just 15 of 23 for 196 yards with one touchdown pass"
Then you say…."With how much skill talent surrounds Stockton, the game plan shouldn’t lean on his arm too often. This game should be the recipe the Bulldogs follow for offensive success."
"just" implies why not more…he didn't play the last half of the 3rd and none of the 4th.
don't lean on his arm….agreed but above you said the opposite.
You are no quarterback or offensive analyst to be sure. "Just" talking points with contradictions.
Gunner deserved a B+…come on. He runs like Stetson Bennett and throws equally as well. I do like Pugs super quick delivery better…but, as he saw, it can also get you into trouble.
I’m guessing that florida clown is on here with all the single down votes to nothing controversial having been said.
GS is a determined and effective runner but not nearly as fast or elusive as SBIV, players with his skills don't come around too often.
