Maybe another year or two of great recruiting classes and we'll be able to get off the field on 3rd downs in the first half. I mean when the national media is calling you out on it? At what point are slow starts on offense and defense a coaching issue? Because the same players play lights out in the 2nd half. And this is not a this year only thing. Same song different verse with different players the past two years. But the same coaches.

Run the ball and stop the run…obviously, that involves winning the LOS. Big explosive plays on offense would be nice, and the occasional sorely missed pass rush wouldn't hurt.

@reddawg1….couldn't agree more. Since Monken left in 2021 and Lanning in 2022 we have struggled to be even remotely as dominant and powerful as before. This was also about the same time the NIL and portal started to be a factor.

    Coincidence?

I dunno. But, I'm getting tired of watching us go through the motions, start slow, get pushed around the LOS, have little pass rush, and create no havoc unless we bring the house, and have overall mediocre QB play. Sorry, but Gunner is not lighting the world on fire. This is not the Kirby Smart team I came to respect.

And I'll be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio State repeated as National Champs this season. I didn't think it could realistically be done with the NIL & portal, but they just might do it even after they lost many players to the NFL. Their defense is top notch, Julian Sayin is one of the best QBs in the country, with a very solid O line, and their RBs are good enough. They even have a brand new OC & DC this season, and they are not skipping a beat!!

Another little tidbit….the best QBs in the country are playing for the best teams. It's not a coincidence. I think we'll make the playoffs but that's about it. My expectations have been lowered no matter how much resilience this team shows. Eventually, a better team (just like Bama did) is going to hit us in the mouth again.

From what I'm hearing the Baltimore fans arent happy with Monken. THey should have drafted Bowers! I would take him back in a second. But Bobo is a UGA guy thick and thin. I' m sure he wants this to be his last stop. You just don't fire your best friend. Come hell or high water Kirby is tied at the hip to Bobo.HEck Kirby is probably grooming him to take over at UGA when he's had enough.

@ih8bama…you're right, and I'm not ready to crown them yet. I just wouldn't be surprised if they pulled it out again. But the Buck's victories have never been in doubt on the field. Their team is solid front to back. Indiana might be better, and they beat a then-ranked Illinois team by 53 points (vs Ohio State beat them by only 18 points).

Yet, Ole Miss barely beat an unranked Washington State team and struggled the whole game. SO, how good is Ole Miss…really?

Oh boy, I just looked at ohio st's schedule, and there is not a ranked opponent left on their schedule, and they have only played one ranked opponent in texas, that they barely beat at home. They will make the playoffs but lose in the first round

To quote you: “ Yet, Ole Miss barely beat an unranked Washington State team and struggled the whole game. SO, how good is Ole Miss…really?“

Yep Agree And that was in the Reb’s home stadium as well !! I expect it to be a huge and tough battle, because allot of pride for Both teams (and HC’s) is on the line. But I Believe and sure Hope that our Dawgs will get the Victory between the Hedges !! Dawgs should be chaffing at the bit to Earn some recognition !! Go Dawgs !! P.S. I always enjoy your posts MontanaDawg !!

Yes Sir !! Agree totally !! And when they do it Bring everything but the kitchen sink !! But like you said very adeptly don’t do it TO often where it becomes predictable. FAKE bringing it sometimes and drop back in coverage.

Yall Im not a crystal ball reader or prophet but the Rebs CAN be beat, they bleed just like Any team. Unranked WA St. scared the snot out of the Rebs in Their house !!
The Rebs will be playing in the Wild and Rabid Dawg House !! Our Dawgs are gonna Win this game by a solid score !! BELIEVE !! Go Dawgs !!

Every game our Young Dawgs play they are gaining experience, on Both sides of the ball.

Sooner than later our Dawgs will be young no more but Confident more like veteran players on Both sides of the ball. Just keep getting the W !! Dawgs only lost one game by 3 points so far. It’s Who we lost to that I think stings most Dawgs fans. And a missed opportunity also, not gonna delve all off in that as Yall know very well to what I’m referring.

The slow first half starts are Very frustrating to All of us certainly including me.

But those slow starts are a Shared responsibility. Gunner stated very clearly in one of the post game interviews that he’s Not Allowed to change the play !! Yall that’s Very, Very important !! So Even if a WR is wide open deep down field and Gunner Does see him if the play is a 5 yd swing pass and he disobeys that and does what He wants to do he’s gonna get a Big time azz chewing !!

Look we don’t know for sure but it seems he got his azz chewed for diving in and scoring a TD !! Imagine how much worse that would be if he decided to take it upon himself to change the play ??!!?? Please don’t just brush this aside, Please Think about it.

Now I don’t know for sure Yall please tell me for educational purposes. But I thought most if not All our QBs Were allowed to change plays in the past ? Not having that capability is a big handicap on Gunner in my humble view.

I’ve read Some people say the Coaches don’t Trust Gunner. Well if that’s True bench him and bring Puglisi out. Don’t need to be playing a QB they don’t Trust !! Maybe that’s Why Gunner has yet to be Officially named the starter.

Gunner is not only physically tough he’s also tough as h e l l mentally !! Kid gets blamed by the Coaches and Some fans for things that are NOT his fault !!

Some people stress on some say Gunner doesn’t see the field very well. Is it Really that or is it the play calls for one of those “extensions of the run” and the Wide Open guy Deep downfield is merely a decoy for the extension of the run play ? I think many times Gunner gets a very raw deal, but Much to his credit he just man’s up and plays as hard as he can. One INT through Six games.

Numerous Critical first downs with his Feet and TDs as well. But the lions share of the “slow start” criticism is placed on him by Coaches, Media, and Some fans. The redeeming factor is that countless fans See clearly that it ain’t all on Gunner !! I salute Those fans.
