Dinkins did not enroll early at Georgia and thus did not get the benefit of spring practice. He arrived in the summer, having to try and make up ground on the many veterans in the Georgia defensive backfield.

we need people who can actually cover receivers and not get burned or play 5 yards off them.

Exactly right. Tackling is very important for a DB. Especially at UGA. But tackling is #2 to coverage. If tackling was more important you'd play 7 LB's instead of 3. I can still see JThomas trailing the MS WR 75 yards down the sideline because the Safety was out of position and didn't have the speed to get in position.
Dinkins sounds like a quick twitch guy with some speed and a nose for the ball. Though a bit undersized. I thought Bullard too since he is creating some buzz as a true freshman.
