What has happened to RB Phillips?
My guess is they don't have full faith in Phillips at this point however Rod Robinson is even a bigger mystery in my mind. He was highly touted before an early injury and seems to be healthy now but isn't playing, smells like he's in the doghouse.
This is the least injured I can remember a Dawgs football team in years... especially mid-season! Hopeful for an awesome showing on Saturday :)
..…6 and 1, with a 3pt loss, in a year that many said was going to be a rebuilding year, (due to a very inexperienced talent), doesn't sound so bad to me. Gunner has shown improvement every game (he must be able to play his game). With the consistency of the OL that we have in place for the Ga/flounder game we ought to all be pleased. Blocks for those fine backs and time for Gunner to connect with our great receiving corp is going to be fun. Cole is going to lead the D and stop all the mistakes that are happening too often…...
Well I have been known to be optimistic about our Dawgs ..…Dawgs 34, flounders 6.
Go Dawgs!!!
@Chief I like the way you think. CFB playoff rankings come out next week. Dawgs need to take care of business. In wondering how we'd be faring if Carson was here vs. Gunner, I have to think Gunners ability to run has made a big difference in the Dawgs offense. Gunner may not be flashy, but he'll burn you (like Stetson) if you don't account for him. Another week another heart palpitation.
Phillips has been banged up the past few weeks after injuring an ankle. I agree with you on R Rob. I know he has been dealing with a hamstring issue, but my best guess is he has been passed by Chauncey Bowens who has become the most reliable runner. He's got size and a little more burst than R Rob.
I had posted this a few days ago but regarding Phillips, I recently spoke with a friend who had played for the Dawgs and is still closely involved with the team and he said Phillips was not injured but apparently has not picked up/developed the blocking skills that Kirby demands from his running backs so until he does we will probably see him sparingly.
That is too bad about Phillips as that kid is a hard runner.
why is no one mentioning Willie Fritz with any of these coaching vacancies. Check his resume (off top of my head) Juco-national champions, Missouri State (FCS national champions), GaSouthern 9 or 10 wins bowl game (was mad when he left for Tulane) Tulane won Cotton Bowl, currently at Houston 7-1. Beat SEC teams with far less talent. He did better at Tulane than Pat Sayjack is doing. I don’t get it. Way better coach than most of the names being brought up. Would hate to see him at Auburn, UF, LSU. He might get Houston in the playoffs this year. His offenses score points. I just don’t understand.
Willie Fritz won FCS at Sam Houston State not Missouri State. Dude wins was the point of my previous post.
throw this name out there for the UF or LSU head football coach. I think either one would be delighted to have Tom Crean. In football, He won’t have to figure out how to pass a ball inbounds to a team mate. Oh man not this play again. The dreaded inbounds pass.
Kirby knows far more than I do so best to stick with him Lol !! But I confess I get a little annoyed with WRs and RBs riding the bench because their blocking skills are lacking. But that’s why Kirby makes $millions and has won Two Ntl. Titles while I hold the recliner chair down in my living room !! 🤣 I hope Phillips can get the nod from Kirby as that kid is blazing fast !!
Hey a favor please, ask your friend if he’s heard anything recently about Ty Cummings a RB recruit from West Laurens HS. He’s currently committed to GSU but said that if he were offered he’d Love to go to UGA !!
There was an article on here about him a few weeks ago. He’s only 5’8” and 180 lbs. but he’s rushed for 1,565 yds. 19 TDs, averaging over 12 yds per carry through 9 games. He’s also got some receiving yds. but I don’t know how much. He’s also thrown the ball some as a QB and is used on kick & punt returns. I’m lobbying for him as that’s my old HS !! Thx in advance !!
he’s in his 60s. But I agree he’d be top of my list.
