Ever since the Ole Miss game when Luckie and others from the offense had to run over and tell the defense to get fired up, I have wondered just what is going on with the mindset of the defensive players at UGA.

In the SEC, anyone can beat you. All have pretty good talent, and they can have a great game. It's not hard to get up for a game against UGA. These kids will fight. I'm concerned with our Defensive backfield, particularly the safety's and communication. We had some big busts in coverage, and people can see it. Kirby may elect to play soft and back to keep everything in front to avoid the catastrophic play. Which will mean they will run up and down the field on us. I wish our secondary was better, older.

"But when you’re needing fourth down stops and 82-yard drives to put away Florida, the idea of a four-quarter performance every week becomes less fun."

Becoming more dominant in the first and second quarter will make a difference in how you have to play the fourth quarter. These slow starts are not just a performance issue but appear to also be a planning issue. To the untrained eye (me) it appears that our defense has to use the first half to figure out what's going on, then make an adjustment at halftime to get back in the ballgame. I think that is more of a coaching issue that needs some attention.

    GO DAWGS!

GoodOlDawg, if you go watch the filmguy on you tube, you'll see the issue. Combination of youth and scheme. Young player takes a step or two in the wrong direction and then recovers. Coaches get on him, and when they run it again in the 3rd quarter, he does it right. Mostly that kind of thing. After a year or two, that player will be awesome, but at this point, he can be fooled. That's why our middle linebacker Allen is so good. He's rarely fooled, since he's played for more than two years. A lot is communication on the backend - who's got the deep half. Who's got the tight end in a certain area. One wrong move, and the wide receiver is by you.

@jdatl3 Here's one example of what you mentioned: Last week when DJ Lagway rolled out of the pocket, Thomas was roaming towards the QB and never looked back at a streaking Wilson crossing behind. Bolden had coverage on Wilson but backed off thinking Thomas would pick him up. Had Bolden stayed with Wilson he may have had a chance to make a play. Instead both Thomas and Bolden end up as spectators and FL ended up with an easy TD.

UK was the only game we all could relax! Last 3 of 4 are potential L's.

”We haven’t done that very often in terms of dominating the way we want to, but we’ll continue to try to.”

There it is…we will continue to try to…that you can take to the bank with this year’s cardiac kids who never give up! What a fun team to watch, keep on chopping, pups…

The Key to dominating any team or game involves controlling the LOS. We haven't been able to do that consistently at all on either side of the ball, albeit there have been quarters and moments where the LOS rose to the challenge. It does seem like our O- line gets better these days in the 2nd half.

Run The ball and Stop the Run...if you can do that like Kirby preaches, then you'll win most of your games.

I could be off base here but every time I listen to Kirby in an interview it’s the excuse of playing in the SEC. Seems to me that after 3 SEC trophies and 2 Nattys and $13 mil a year, coach has lose some of his enthusiasm. He is not the same ( we won’t be hunted at Georgia, we will do the hunting) coach. I guess it happens with succeed. He could have at least 4 nattys and a few more SEC championships if not for Bama

UGA cannot take this game too lightly. Should be a dogfight. No pun intended.

Watching TX start to wake up last week has got to be a growing concern. TX has an extra week off to get healthy and prepare for revenge against UGA. The TX game will tell the story of the '25 UGA season.

doubt anyone is overlooking miss state. They’ve been pretty good all season, just a frisky team learning how to win. They gave us all we could handle last year. Will need to keep their offense off the field and control the clock. Probably will pull away in the fourth.

Texas will be tough, but Arch’s worst performances have been on the road. Night game in Athens let’s see how he does. Of course I thought it would impact Ty Simpson but it really didn’t. But I’m somewhat confident we can finish the season 11-1.

I won’t pretend that I’ve meticulously studied Arch as I haven’t. But as with allot of QBs even really good ones he tends to unravel when the defense brings strong and effective pressure on him.

Problem is our Dawgs have struggled at doing that on a consistent basis. Still I’m gonna Believe. Our toughest game remaining regular season Might be GT. But they sure didn’t look like themselves vs NC St. !!

Let’s hope our “ really bad game” was the one we lost !! Love your optimism and broke into a smile when you said 11-1 !! Wouldn’t it be SO Cool to play Bama in the SECCG but Beat them this time ??!!?? A loss is a loss no matter the score but it’s not like they stomped us or something.

I know KS was trying to be aggressive and play to win but I guess we’ll always wonder what would’ve happened had he let Woodring kick the FG which from That distance should’ve been fairly simple for him. Oh well the cat’s done licked that milk up !! Onward and Forward !! Go Dawgs !!
