Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Sports is just like politics, it’s been that way since before time - division, “controversy” and eyes on the set. If they are talking about you/it - it’s called winning, for some that is.
None of it matters for the most part (now). It usually works itself out, would be okay with it if they waited until the end of regular season…it all is insulting enough as it is.
There seems to be more controversy now than there was with the old AP and UPI/coaches polls.
Pretty sure it’s meant to be that way. So keep on “Stoken” that fire Gary - big money depends on it.
CF may just be better off just following the pro football model - for some that is. One toe is already in the water, why not.
Should we just automatically know who Gary Stokan is?
“The reason Ole Miss dropped and Texas Tech moved up is Texas Tech beat BYU and Ole Miss played The Citadel,” Stokan said. “So, it just depends on who you play that week.”
BYU is overrated as heck. They have one ranked win against a team that is 7-2 and 5th in their conference. I'd bet their record would be worse in any of the other P4 conferences, even the ACC.
Dunno if you should know who he is, but he's been running the Peach Bowl and the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes Benz Stadium for like a decade.
I call total BS on his statement that it depends on who you play that week. Indiana played a very weak Penn state team last week (winless in the conference, 5 straight losses entering the game), and got lucky to win in the last minute. While A&M easily beat a then ranked Missouri team. Yet nothing changed in the CFP ranking to reflect that outcome. So, if his statement held any truth whatsoever, A&M would be ranked ahead of iu..his words, not mine.
look closely and you will see the CFP Committee placing select opponents at the tail end of the Top 25 to ensure certain special teams have a better SOS
I agree, what an alarmingly flippant statement, "…depends on who you play that week." I don't know the full context, and this is not surprising to hear having closely followed polls for many years myself, but I would hope the folks making the final ranking decision take this more seriously and use more in-depth analysis to decide poll movements.
I would like to slip to #6. Based on the latest bracket, which we all know will change 100 times before finalized, you still get a home game and you are in the "bottom" half of the bracket where Bama and OSU are not. Let TT play USF, then Bama, then (OSU or ND or Oregon) to get to the finals. I'd take Miami, TAMU, then (Texas or Ole Miss or Indiana) to get to the finals.
So by Stokan’s logic, if Georgia beats Tx this week, and they beat the cupcake next week, they could actually fall in the polls because somebody else played a stronger opponent? Wow. SOS is being manipulated by the committee on a weekly basis.
I don’t think Texas will be there unless they run the table
And? Still doesn’t matter who he is. He’s just throwing teams and games out there. He no more important than Paul F😂
Well time will tell, but it looks like the moral of the story here is that BYU is not very good and has been overrated all year.
Indian barely beat a PennSt team that has lost it's last 4 games and fired it's head coach , and yet they say A&M's victory over Missouri by a lot, didn't mean as much because Miss. played a 3rd string QB? Talk about subjective mumbo-jumbo!
Agreed! Welcome to the jungle of the CFP committee!
PSU was without a coach and played a backup QB as well…..why did they not discount that fact like the did for TAMU v. Mizzou?
As @JayDog said below:
" SOS is being manipulated by the committee on a weekly basis."
This is something they have done since their inception……changing the rules weekly and even game by game to fit their agenda of branding and possible TV revenues for the games they pick!! WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY AT ALL!!!
Go Dawgs! Just win, baby!
