Kiffin’s anticipated move would be the first domino to fall among major college football head coach openings, with Florida, Auburn and Penn State among the programs still looking to fill vacancies.

After seeing what has happened with the past several LSU coaches and knowing that they love me at Ole Miss and are willing to match dollar for dollar, there is no way I leave. Buried in that is the fact that you have never actually won anything, anywhere.

You have to really, really hate that school and the state to leave that situation, in which case, good riddance.

Just as I predicted when Kelley got the Louisiana boot…Kiff to LSU. Poor Florida, no elite head coach wants to raise their family at the I75 truck stop…so once again let’s pursue another Sunbelt Billy type from a small program in Louisiana. Kiff with LSU level talent and $$$ will eventually be a lethal combination. I was hoping he would stay at OM. It was fun watching him build a solid program there.

Who cares what a coach does whose biggest accomplisment is winning the egg bowl? 10 coaching jobs in various capacities at several different schools. All this in less than 30 years of coaching..that speaks volumes about kiffin the clown. Lame Kiffin attitude= "I'm all in, until a better offer comes along, or I'm run out of town" lol

Assuming it was not "tongue in cheek", Kiffin's recent statement that today's college football elite will only follow the money and not develop unique ties to the school presently employing them may have the ring of truth for some but hopefully not in Athens, GA. Kiffin is certainly the clearcut coaching representative of that athletic mentality. I wish him less success than the unsubtle Yankee who preceded him!

For everything Kiffin has brought to the game with his offensive ideas, it is still hard to understand why so many programs are trying to outbid each other for this guy. Sure he has won at Florida Atlantic (C-USA) and currently at Ole miss but it remains to be seen if he's able to win on a national level. Smells of desperation.

And I wonder if his HS recruiting will be good enough at LSU (if he takes that job)?. If he can't recruit HS talent, and win at LSU, I give them 3 years before they're possibly buying out another high dollar coach. The success the past couple of seasons at Ole Miss has largely been in part from players that transferred to Ole Miss from other schools via the portal. Too much HS talent in Louisiana to have to depend on the portal to fill a roster. If he can't recruit, and develope that talent, he is a doomed man in Louisiana..just my opinion. After all, Kiffin is known as the "King of the Portal"

I thought the original plan was for the announcement to be made right after the egg bowl. Maybe I misunderstood. I wonder if the reason for waiting after the Ala-Auburn game was to see if 'Bama lost. Had 'Bama lost they would probably have been left out of the playoffs and a very good possibility they fire DeBoer. Was Kiffin waiting to see if that became a reality?

I believe this whole thing is a lot more complex than anybody in the media knows....or I willing to expose.

Maybe....Bama was planning on firing Deboer...if, he lost the Iron Bowl.

Now?....He will want to wait till after the SECCG....cause, if Bama loses and misses out on the CFP....they will fire him, then....and, Kiffin will step in.

That's only one of several other scenarios. Involving a couple of other HC's and schools.

I'm just wondering, how loyal he is to "the players" he made promises to. Will he take them along.…or leave em hangin'..

That will define Lane Kiffin to me. And, to the smart HS Recruits, going forward. DO NOT COMMIT TO A COACH. "People" will disappoint...whereas, you can expect it with "Institutions". Commit to yourself and play the game. That's what they do.

If Kiffin goes to LSU he will regret it. Would you rather live in Oxford or Baton Rouge? I’ve never been to Oxford. I’ve been to Baton Rouge. Therefore, I pick Oxford. Plus, he obviously “fits” at Ole Miss.

LSU outbid $$ over Ole Miss, Kiffin is Kiffin’s favorite team. Turn the page. P. S. Look at all the trophies Kiffin has won. 🙄

The expectations go from kudos for an 11-win season to winning national championships. In Tigerland anything less than competing for national championships a failure. Recruiting the Transfer Portal will not be good enough. Lane is gonna have to hit the HS recruiting trail and eat lots of fried chicken, corn bread, gumbo, crawfish and sweet potato pie. Recruiting and development is really not Lane's thing.

BigDawg, I believe you're onto something….if Bama could get Kiffin, and he could get another year for ole Trinidad, The Tide would be definitely rising.

  • BigDawg61BigDawg61 Posts: 3,337 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

I don't think, Bama would lose a single recruit, or explosive player....in that scenario. In fact....Bama's roster would be scary as hell, next year....should that happen. It's the right move for Alp concerned....imo.

And, I'm sure Bama feels a lot more comfortable...with having Kiffin as a HC. Maybe. Lol

Kiffin and Kalen have the same agent. If there was going to be movement, Lane would’ve known.

Now if in a couple years they move on from DeBoer then Lane is tops for that Bama job no doubt in my mind.
