Playing for Kirby Smart is grueling and you have to be willing to set aside in a sense personal pride and Develop Team pride. We’ve read many times how Kirby will call you out on his megaphone or bullhorn whatever it is in front of all your teammates. Like military boot camp. You have to be able to swallow the anger and embarrassment and redirect those to getting better.

These guys come out of HS as 5* and 4* players that were catered to during the recruiting process by a bunch of schools. All of a sudden they find themselves in Kirby’s Boot Camp and it’s Tough !! In HS their natural God given skills coupled with Yeah some fairly hard work ( Nothing vaguely like Kirby) was enough for them to be better than their teammates and better than most opponents.

Ah but now they play With and Against guys as good and often times Better than they are !! Then it becomes the Only way to stay on top is Total Dedication not holding even a smidgen back !! Because if you try to hold back that smidgen Kirby Will see it and all of a sudden your teammate who Has been giving that Total will **** you of your spot.

I’ve never heard or read any off field issues on this guy ( are there any ?) that I’m aware of. And the other guys that by passed him Worked their way around him. So I hold no malice against him and wish him well at his next stop.

BUT he might well have just hurt his self badly with the NFL Draft. Let’s face it Kirby makes guys ready for the NFL. Especially his favorite unit the Secondary. NFL teams Know they are getting a quality guy that is pretty much ready for NFL level training as Kirby pushes them to that level of intensity. So he might end up being a Big fish in a Small pond but it’s very possible that the NFL won’t have as much appreciation for that. We need to be So Thankful that Kirby is the HC at UGA !! The Kiffin fiasco makes me appreciate Kirby all the more !!

The portal has created quitters in college football. It may seem harse, but it is the truth. Lose your starting position to someone hungrier than you and you decide to leave. UGA will be fine, but what kind of young men are college football creating this easy way out. I am aware you have the right to leave and I get the opportunity to make money somewhere else, but what kind of character does that instill.

I’m not familiar with the school calendar but it appears that he wasn’t worried about his classes either. If he leaves the team, he’s probably no longer living with the players, thus also no longer in class. Yes I understand the “student athlete” is a fading moniker
