“I think, to be honest, it’s something I definitely kind of think about,” Allen said. “It’s crazy you asked that because I was actually talking to my mom about it last night on the phone. That’s a team I haven’t beat, especially in the SEC championship.”

Bama shouldn't be able to beat this team. If they work their game plan, If they can execute on that plan, and the secondary plays tight without interference, they should win. They all must know their assignments. Even second and third level guys.

ALabama ran alot of screen action last time. Keep them out of 3rd and short!!! Keep chopping wood!

Stockton needs to look out when running against Alabama. Receivers and RBs too. Alabama has been a dirty team for decades, protected by the SEC refs. Bama likes to hurt the opposing players to knock them out of the game. GT actually withdrew from the SEC in 1966 after Bama placed several of their players in the hospital without a single penalty. GT was a charter member of the SEC btw. So be careful, Gunner…

Smart needs to hire an exorcist priest before the game to vanquish the Bama Evil from our team's heads and bodies…

Bama has to win to make the CFPs, that makes them even more dangerous. With that said, how sweet is it going to be that we send them packing to the Poulan Weedeater bowl this Saturday?

"Look for that to change, especially when a win would give Georgia extra time off in the pending College Football Playoff."

The extra time off in addition to what they would already have isn't automatically a good thing. There is such a thing as too much time off. Just look at how the team did last year after the first round bye.

There are more the enough reasons to want to win this game. But an extra week off isn't one of them - let alone the reason, as the article characterizes it.

1-7 against Bama since 2017. That's all the motivation Kirby or the rest of the team needs for this game.

In the first meetup, Dawgs ran the ball for 227 yards and held Bama to 117 yards. Bowens ran for 119 yards himself and was by far our leading rusher. Gunner was 13/20 for only 130 yards. He's a much better QB today, but so is Ty Simpson. Both teams didn't have great games this past weekend, so both will be looking to bounce back. Bama's Jam Miller was hurt towards the end of the Auburn game, but it won't matter because his replacement is a solid train wreck at 245lbs in Daniel Hill. He can easily do the job. Bama gained 6.7 yards per play vs our 5.2 yards, and they held the ball over 10 minutes longer than the Dawgs did gaining 25 first downs to the Dawgs 17. 77 total plays for Bama versus 53 for UGA.

I wouldn't bet against Bama in this venue or at any point until we can prove we can beat these guys more than once in 8 tries. It will be a dog fight, and the LOS will be the key to it all.

Key matchups…Isaiah Horton vs ER4 and Germie Bernard vs Daylen Everette

Our secondary got torched for 10+ yards per reception on 13 of the 24 completed passes thrown by Simpson, we cannot give that goo ber that much time to pick us apart this time or it ain't going to be good…

Comparatively speaking, Auburn took the mid to long passes away from Simpson to the tune of only allowing 10+ yards per reception on 3 of 19 completions. Of course, when you sell out to stop the pass it exposes the defense to an explosive run game which Bama was able to take advantage of. Grubb's offensive strategy is going to expose one or the other, choose your poison. Whomever is tasked with spying Simpson must have a great game. If that succeeds we walk away with the W. I can't wait…let's go Dawgs.

We need to win big enough that we won't risk having to play them a third time this season.

Not just UGA, all 4 1st round bye teams lost they played their 1st game last year after that much time off.

Alabama needed miracles or sloppy opponent play to win several games, and could easily have 4 more losses (Georgia, Mizzou, SCar, Auburn).

Georgia can AND SHOULD beat this team! We should have beaten them last time…if we had kicked the field goal and Frazier hadn't fumbled deep in out territory at least.

The OL really progressed since that game, and losing Bobo was a bummer, but I'm hoping Toliver progresses this week in practice.

If the OL gets it done, I look for our TEs to light it up. And I hope Bobo uses Elyiss Williams to go up high.

Please, please, please NO Cash Jones on 3rd downs!!!

  • GramsterGramster Posts: 555 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Please…if it’s late in the game and 4th and 1…McCray, Bowens or Frazier ON THE FIELD and Cash Jones on the sidelines waiving the red n black pompoms this time! It cost us against Bama and dmm near cost us against GT…enough

You guys can bet the mortgage that Cash Jones will be in there on third down, and on a significant third down at that. One thing about Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo — they are stubborn as heck, and there is NO WAY they're going to let the mood of fans dictate what they do on the field. Both of them STILL BELIEVE that Cash Jones makes that first down (or even scores) in that first down if a lineman hadn't missed a block. So, just get ready to scream because Jones is going to play on third down, and he won't just be a decoy all the time, either.
