I didn't realise that Gunner was on the doorstep of "Legend". I love him to death, but legendary—not quite yet. Warning—"Off Topic"—the AJC is reporting that Buster Faulkner has been hired by Florida—certainly we didn't let him slip away again!!
Hmmm...I'm not sure I'm ready to crown Gunner with any "legend" status. For me, that would come next season if at all. Don't get me wrong, the guy is an above average QB, but he is not an elite QB in my eyes. That will hopefully come with time, and heck, if he brings home the Natty this season I may change my opinion. Georgia has never fielded a truly elite QB in my opinion. Stetson was one-of-a-kind, and he was as close as you could be to elite and the best overall QB the Dawgs have ever produced. Stafford has become elite in the NFL, but he wasn't at Georgia.
I'm glad Gunner is our QB, and I look forward to him leading our Dawgs forward to greater accomplishments this season.

@lucydog...you got me on that one!! Ha! Okay, I graduated from UGA in '84, so let's just say no elite QBs since then...too bad he never won the Heisman.
Idunno, Montana. Considering he was the overall first pick of his draft, it'd be hard to argue that Stafford wasn't elite. Surely there was good reason for him to have been drafted so highly.
I know I'm going to get nailed for this, but Stetson Bennett was elite in my eyes. Sure his arm talent was just above average, but that's not what made him elite … He just wanted it more than everyone else - by a lot. Elite toughness, Elite Desire. Stafford had the elite arm talent, but he just didn't want it that bad. Gunner has above average arm talent - and at times, he wants it bad. At times. I think he's growing into it.

All I can say about Gunner is I love the young man and I’m pulling for him to Win, Win, Win !!
Arron Murray has a record that best I know of stands at the highest in the SEC even over Peyton Manning. That’s Three consecutive 3000 yd Plus seasons. It might have been broken but I’m not aware if it has. That would seem Elite to me. Gunner will be a Beast next year !! Win or Lose he’s done Very well This year in my view. Go Gunner !! Go Dawgs !!
I think you're right… putting all the other stats aside, "elite" means leading your team and winning, full stop. There have been plenty of "high stats" QBs who might have elite personal numbers, but not elite results. Also, "elite" in college doesn't necessarily translate to the pros. See Aaron Murray (as previously mentioned) and Tim Tebow… gator or not, I think he was without question elite in CFB.

That’s what Kirby Smart has seen in Stockton from the first time of many that he referred to him as “a winner” in postgame interviews.
I think that these statements say it all as to the mindset of our current quarterback! Reminds me so much of Stetson and Murray….absolutely hates to lose and will do anything required of him to win the game..!!!
