Much respect to DP as a player but analysis like this right here is the reason that he lost his gig at the college game day!
I don't recall him ever saying anything positive about the dawgs since he started his podcast!
You can always count on DP to try to give a blunt, honest, unbiased assessment. It’s what I like about him. That being said, if the success or failure of this team is contingent on a single injury, DP hasn’t truly been paying attention to what Kirby has built.
You notice, Pollack didn't have any follow up, to his earlier statement, regarding, the defense.
"The Dawgs don't have any defensive linemen that can play winning football."
Wonder how he feels about that, now. Lol
Yes, I agree that losing Drew hurts, but one of two things is happening here….
Hopefully the latter!!
I don't agree with everything Pollack says, but until the Dawgs can get the proverbial Bama mon*** off their back and start winning against the Tide more than losing, then I will continue to be skeptical we can actually pull off a decisive win. Just being honest.
Put it this way: I wouldn't be surprised at all if we lose…for whatever reason.
Lmao.…I just watch that part of the movie the other night. I had forgotten about Sam Kenison. Would of made a helluva Coach. Lol...thanks for the reminder.
I know. I refuse to believe, he's really that "bone headed". Lol....must be a reason for saying it....especially, when he has to know, it BS. And, just another ESPN talking point.
Florida is hiring Buster Faulkner as the offensive coordinator. You heard it here last:
https://atozsports.com/college-football/florida-gators-news/jon-sumrall-hired-buster-faulkner-oc-explosive-offense-dj-lagway/
My guess is DJ Lagway will not like the move because he wants to be an NFL QB and he has already gotten hurt in both his seasons (Haynes King was frequently hurt too) plus there is no evidence that this scheme prepares you for the NFL. Maybe UGA can make a run at him if he hits the portal? In any case, the hopes that UGA would ditch Bobo and replace him with Faulkner are now gone. And if we can all remember what UGA did to Faulkner's offense in the last game, the Gators are never going to threaten UGA with that hire. He will be good for 8-9 wins a year in the SEC though.
Incidentally he hired the Kentucky defensive coordinator also. Not as big a deal because Sumrall is a former DC also.
I wonder if Georgia Tech is now going to raid UGA's staff again for an OC? If they are smart they will hire former UGA WR coach and now Bucs WR coach Bryan McClendon, as he is a former OC (South Carolina) who can help them recruit (their current class is rated 39, and for perspective Virginia Tech signed the #23 class and doesn't even have a coaching staff yet. But that requires Tech being smart in football, which we know that the program who fired a solid recruiter Chan Gailey back in the day in order to get a guy from Navy to run their program into the ground for the better part of the decade isn't.
I love Pollack and how he played the game. I feel what we saw Friday was a combination of losing a key player MID Game and also the game plan being, get outta town with a win and shorten the game.
now that cks and crew have had a week of practice and not a mid game decision, it should be just fine. I’m not saying it’s going to be as dominant as the Texas game but will definitely be better than the Tech game
He's right. Outside of QB, the Center is the most important. But, it's still the job of the coaches to have the next man up and ready to go. He wasn't against Tech. I hope he's better against Bama, because he's about to face the number one NT in the nation.
And a day longer than Bama to prep. Kirby will make the most of that.
Amen, to that. For variable reasons throughout Smart's tenure....the Dawgs rarely put their best football, on the field with Bama.
I for one, am getting sick of it. And, you know Dawggone well....the players are getting sick of it. Lol
Imo....normally, Kirby would play a game like this, relatively close. Conservative, in other words.
BUT....I don't think the leadership, on this team, will allow it. I believe, they [and the Coaches] want to go ahead and punch Bama's button, right now....rather than play it close and face a better prepared Bama in the CFP, later.
They will out-perform all previous games....due to their discipline, football security, depth, QB, RB's, Branch & Humphries, Delp & Lucky....eight, great linemen, taking turns pulling Santa Stockton and his Elves, Frazier & Bowens through the mud 'n blood, to the Promised Land...."Champion City". Down the road from their Hometown, "Winnersville".
I respecrfully, have one message to the Team. No matter what....win, lose or draw....PLAY LIKE CHAMPIONS!. And, make everbody, including yourselves proud. Good luck…and God Bless.
I think Pollock has a point. GT's defense was getting demolished and then Georgia's offense struggled against them, especially after Bobo went out. This game will likely be decided by turnovers just like the first one was. The loss of Bobo will hurt the offense. The Dawgs defense is going to need to have its best game. The offense is going to have to get really creative and limit the negative plays and take advantage of every opportunity. No dropped passes and no lost fumbles.
GOOOODAWGS!
l like Davis P but he is always has negativity to say. So Georgia might as well just stay in Athens and concede the game to bama
