Georgia football players Dontrell Glover and Bo Walker were arrested on charges of theft by shoplifting, a misdemeanor, on Friday, according to the Athens Clarke County jail log. The Athens Clarke County police were the arresting agency.

Hmmm!
First, we are asked to believe they both inadvertently failed to scan some of their items, and that this happens to people all the time. Honest mistake!
But now we learn that the scanner wasn't working, and therefore they didn't get a total on the register screen to check their items against, and didn't get a prompt to pay, decided it was their lucky day, and just bagged all their items and went out the door. Wow, they sure could have avoided all this hassle if they had just gone to a store associate for help.
Or was it that the scanner worked on some items and not others.

That is not an excuse to walk out with over a $100 worth of merchandise that is not on the receipt. Do football players take any math classes at UGA? This whole incident is highly questionable.
"charges being dropped" and being innocent of charges are not necessarily the same thing. WM may have considered the impact of an Athens WM boycott from the more than couple UGA fans that shop there.
