" In games against Texas, Charlotte, Georgia Tech and Alabama, the Bulldogs gave up just 128 rushing yards in total.
.…The rest of the defense stepped up around Allen to continue to stifle the opposing rushing efforts. Georgia’s last three Power 4 foes — Alabama, Georgia Tech and Texas — all had their worst rushing efforts of the season against Georgia."
Excellent Article Connor. Those 2 statements from you above say it all.
What's even more telling is against Bama in the SECCG, the Dawgs not only stiffled the Tide running game, they also held the ball more than 10 minutes longer than Bama. And against Ole Miss, even though the Rebels were able to score 35 points without much use of their run game, the big reason they lost was because the Dawgs held the ball for over 15 minutes longer than Ole Miss. Ball control - being able to run the ball and run the clock as needed, is just as important as stopping the run.
GOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!
if you can’t run the ball it’s very hard to win the game.
All of you. like me, have watched this defense develop and improve since the beginning of the season. I feel now that we can play with anybody and win the elite games. I'm excited about the rest of the season.
So proud of our Dawgs !! The Defense really grew up big right before our eyes and it’s been a pleasure to watch !!
Defense wins championships!
I thought this was a very good article.
In games against Texas, Charlotte, Georgia Tech and Alabama, the Bulldogs gave up just 128 rushing yards in total.Wow! Truly ⬆︎an amazing stat⬆︎.
It’s not a defense that pressures the quarterback — Georgia ranks last among College Football Playoff participants in sacks — or forces many turnovers, as the Bulldogs have just 12 in 13 games.I beg to differ. While these stats may be true, they don't tell the story. Ask Texas's quarterback and Alabama's quarterback - particularly Alabama's - about Georgia's ability to pressure the quarterback.
Go, Dawgs!
Nothing has changed my perception that BucknutU has the most sound defense heading into the CFPs but the way these Dawgs have developed, grown and matured this season is nothing short of amazing, the margin between these two defenses is razor thin, love the way ours is peaking at the right time.
eh, I don’t think there’s anyway to truly get a frame of reference for this due to their poop schedule… you can look at common opponents (Texas)… OSU gave up 1 more first down, 30+ more yards total offense, 5-6x(!!!!!!!) the rushing yards we did. We gave up a bit more passing yards but you can go back to drive charts and see that was a function of us STEAMROLLING Texas… something OSU couldn’t do. I think our defenses are similarly equipped but that our offense plays more complimentary to our defense than theirs. UGA -2.5 if they played today, in my book.
Which is exactly why Bama is going to lose against OU!
Go Dawgs!
