Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Will Muschamp releases official statement on why he took the Texas defensive coordinator job
âThis is an exciting day for the Muschamp family,â Muschamp said in a statement put out by Texas. âWe loved our time in Austin and truly enjoyed everything about working with Texas Football. Weâre thrilled to be coming back to a program with one of the richest and proudest histories and traditions in college football.

Congrats to him. I'm sure he'll help them as the DC.
I did not see that coming…
You left out part of the why in your article…..$$$$$$$
Thought he wanted to take a step back and just be an analyst. Guess he had hoped to see his son Whit play some. So much for that.
WOW!! Something like this had never even entered my mind and I must say, it is a great move by Texas. That D will definitely improve and now possibly live up to all that talent they have been acquiring over the past few years. Hate it for the DAWGS but perhaps Mus wanted to be in his own spotlight and not in KS's. After all, everyone keeps saying how the defense is all Kirby and the DC is simply the housekeeper - I don't subscribe to that thinking but it is definitely out there.
Probably realizes that his son won't ever see the field at Vandy so no need to stay free to watch him play; he won't be playing. Good luck until Dawgs play TU.
Also, I wholeheartedly agree with @flipside - I didn't catch any semblance of him explaining why only the what.
Go DAWGS!
They keep trying to become the next UGA by buying everyone they can from Georgia.
Yeah, I don't really see the "why" in Will's statement…just how great of a job it is and that he's excited to work at Texas. He left a paid position with UGA and seemed to want more time with his family…similar situation to Matt Luke?
Sam Pittman
Matt Luke
And now Will Muschamp
What they have in common. "I want to spend time with my family." And then end up coaching at another school. I wish someone would be honest about whats going on.
Wonder if the son will enter the portal and end up on the roster in Austin.
Muschamp has never been successful anywhere. He may be a great guy, but not a very good coach. Glad he is at Texas.
Probably wanted to be the “coach in waiting “ when Sark heads to the NFL in the next year or two….
One word: money.
Kirby is pretty demanding fellow - would guess that he wants ALL to work as hard as himself.
Or, both Kirby and Muschamp are “drivers” - sometimes that just doesn’t mesh together…who knows.
Actually, Pittman never said that. He left to be the HC at Arkansas.
i guess those titles when he was on staff in 21 and 22 are fake then.
