KS needs to hire Hines Ward as receivers coach

Same here. I admit I did a speed read but like you I never saw him express the Why. I know people have to do what’s best for them and their families, so I’m not gonna bash on Will. But this hurts. He will elevate TX to a higher level making the road all the harder for our Dawgs. I sure was disappointed to open DN and read this.

I had a long rant going but while writing it I figured it out: 2026 is going to be Steve Sarkisian's last year at Texas. Either he wins a national title with Arch Manning and then goes to become the head coach of the NFL team that drafts him or they fail to win the title, Texas fires him and he goes back to the NFL as an offensive coordinator. There is background behind this that I won't get into, but no one in Austin thinks that Sarkisian is better than the best coaches in the SEC and nationally anymore.

Muschamp is still relatively young - only 5 years older than Kirby - but too old to jump from a couple of good seasons at Texas to the NFL (also, NFL teams strongly prefer offensive head coaches to defensive ones anyway). So my guess: Texas is FINALLY going to uphold their end of the head-coach-in-waiting bargain after all these years! If so, good for Muschamp.

Thanks @Henddawg I stand corrected. He left UGA to become Arkansas head coach his dream job.

Sark couldn't beat UGA so he he hires someone who has inside knowledge. Actually the Texas defense has not been that bad the last 2 years. Their offense has not been that great against good defenses. Surprised to see this move.

Muschamp was never a DGD like his friends Kirby & Bobo. Recall his comments about how he wanted to go to Fla but they didn’t offer him & his S Car players destroying the hedges. He’s a hired gun. No loyalty. But a good DC. I don’t think Texas would be dumb enough to make him HC in waiting. He’s failed miserably 2x

Free country folks. People follow opportunities. None of you butt hurt people are any different. Muschamp was and is beloved at UGA and contributed greatly to two Natty's. Is that not enough? He shouldn't be chained to UGA for life because of it. Let the man live HIS life.

still love coach boom and I will leave the light on anytime for that guy to contribute at UGA.

Don’t quite understand the move unless he has a kid transferring or attending there. But hey, that dude can coach a defense! Still love him and wish him and his family all the best!

    Go dawgs!

According to the article, Muschamp took the job at Texas because he was excited about taking the job at Texas. There, I hope I cleared up all of the confusion! 😂😂😂

We need another Co Defensive Coordinator. I really believe in adding extra talent to your coaching staff. UGA has the money - Use it.

It's only a matter of time that GS will accept a HC position and move on…..maybe as soon as this week…..Bama blows it & DeBore sez screw the criticism and pressure, I'll take a pay raise at Penn St and only have one or two games per year to worry about…..Kiffin stays put in Bayou Country, GS moves to Tuskville…..the Door open for WM to ascend to his desired goal…IMHO…..DC for The Dawgs……maybe, maybe not, but in the meantime Austin, TX is a nice place to live if you're a multimillionaire and you love your job working with a BOAT LOAD of young talent…..easy way to pad the resume while you wait…..who knows, maybe another shot at HC when Sark leaves for the NFL…….At any rate, horns on a Bull Dawg looks awkward and in my book Will Muschamp will always be a DGD!

I think we will see Will’s son Whit hit the portal ASAP and will likely land very close to Austin. It meant a lot to his dad to watch his son play and playing time won’t get any better at Vandy now that Curtis is on campus. Go Dawgs and Happy Holidays to all of my Dawgnation friends!!!

@GtheGreek It was Muschamp's availability that put my mind at ease when it comes to the Glenn Schumann situation. I too would like to see Muschamp back on the UGA sideline when/if Schumann leaves for a Head Coach job. It looks like it may not be that clear-cut anymore.
