Man we need offensive Playmakers
Why do so many media outlet's headlines read"ELITE" this or that when writing about a 3* project recruit.
3*, 5*,9* who cares, this guy is a football player
now, who is going to come in with a higher offer to get his services? Jeff, I hate to say it man, but your industry of recruiting I think will be obsolete in 10 years. High school recruiting is a thing of the past with the transfer portal
I'm guessing because there are more unrated high school athletes than there are 3star…I guess they save the word average prospect for 2star and under…
He has very good forward acceleration, not so much side to side… This kid may be a highly touted high school football player but he has a lot of development to do if he is ever going to be an "elite" starting LB at the SEC level …
The guy sounds like a football player. But UGA's highest drafted, most talented, most NFL ready players over the CKS's tenure have been high 4* and 5* players.
Gouda is the #59th LB and #720 player. The #1 player in GA and #1 LB in the country in the '26 class is headed to Austin TX to play for TX next season. That would have been unheard of to consider a few years ago.
Sure there is a good chance his rankings improve as he improves. But UGA seems to be sliding back under the new system. Maybe the kid will stay 5 years and won't bolt when CKS brings in LB's from the TP?
The Muschamp effect and huge bags of oil money will certainly lure many highly ranked prospects of the type that used to lineup to play for Kirby at LBU…still can’t understand why Kirby didn’t counter the Sark offer to Will, oh well. Top of the mountain was nice while we were there…
@Gramster Yes, it is shame how NIL has taken away our ability to sign gamebreaker types. Kirby's magic of closing recruits has been almost negated. Granted he is so old school, he may not pay even if he had it.
Losing Muschamp has had an affect on recruiting and probably even performance on the field of specifically the DB's.
There was no place for Muschamp on this staff. Schumann is the DC. Bringing in a "Co-DC" would look bad on Schumann. Been there done that when Schu was "up and coming". Muschamp was not going to take anything less than DC. Not sure Muschamp isn't the better coach than Schu.
The main/biggest (only?) recruiting differentiator these days in money. So bring a big bag of money and hire coaches that can coach
UGA has missed out on a lot of 5* type players over the last 3 years. Gotta wonder how some of them would have helped on the field.
I totally agree with your Will v Glen and the look it would have on Schu comment. Thing about that is this, if Schu were to get the dawg Dee back to where it belongs you can be assured that another program (example Ore and Lanning) would **** him up as a HBC in an Athens minute. Contrarily, with all the openings at so many programs this year and the fact that Schu was not a serious candidate speaks volumes with regard to the job he did. On the flip side Muschamp is tainted goods in the head ball coach market so I would think he would be harder to lure away in the event he restores our Dee glory.
But to your other point the lack of 2deep 5*s has certainly played a huge part in our defensive regression. Then you look at the NIL plug n play defenses Indy and Miami have thrown together, sure makes many question what truly is the best way to build a roster. I’m very interested in what transpires at UNC. Seems they have embraced the NFL model of a coaching staff that can coach and an independent staff for evaluating potential plug n play portal talent. Crazy times indeed. Cheers mate.
That’s funny right there…the word s n a t c h gets you a ***** filter. Guess the unacceptable words algorithm was developed by a ****
For one the article states how he should be rising in the rankings. So he won't remain a 3star. Guys don't just stay what they are. Especially this early what their rankings are do not matter as it will all change a ton from where they all currently sit. Lastly based on how many hs kids if you are a 3star you are still an elite player. You put up huge numbers and are one of the best players in the country and state. Throw in that rankings are subjective and guys prove them wrong all the time and you have more of an answer. Just bc a service hasnt caught up or feels as highly on a guy doesnt mean they haven't shown to be elite and produce on the field. There are 3 stars or no stars that produce absolute monster numbers and far outperform higher ranked guys every year. Tons of them. Its extremely difficult to figure out who will or wont be elite at the next level which is also different than what rankings provide. Maybe this guy ends up a high 4 star or even 5 star soon or when the rankings are final. Maybe he doesn't rise in rankings even though having elite production and dominating hs and then goes on to be a 1st ed draft pick. Just bc a guy doesnt have a certain star ranking does not mean they are not elite. Ive just explained several different instances on why so there ya go. Your welcome.
No it doesnt say anything. Schuman was the big name last year and turned schools down. If he has shown no interest why would they waste time? Also, just bc you dont hear about it doesnt mean schools did not call and ask him to come interview. It happens all the time with Mike bobo but he turns them down bc he is happy at uga snd so he doesn't go on interviews or it isn't reported. Yall have to stop being so wrong about the state of things. We had a young team. You can not compare where we are now or moving forward to the 21 and 22 teams. That will never happen again. Others are better and we do not have near the talent we once had. We still have talent but it is not comparable as well as we were in a season were guys haven't had tbe time to develop or gain experience. There is nothing anyone can do aboht that but ride it out and improve like tbe defense did most of the year. Lastly the defense while it needed to be better was still far from bad. They still had a top rushing defense and were still inside the top 20 or 25 for total defense. Not what we used to do but also many would kill for that defense and lastly like i proved you can not compare to the teams of past in regards to talent and this year specifically in regards to experience. There will be more years moving forward where it just isn't your year. You cant keep the talent and experience you once could. It just wont be your year until you get guys the in game snaps over a couple years again and build back to a year that enough guys are fully developed. God I wish people would understand the current state of cfb and where the team is and what is a realistic and acceptable level of expectations.
