Bobo has said he is a builder of men with character. I wish he had said he was a builder of champions.

UGA is many things but it is not QBU.

We will lose a number of these QBs and they will go on to do great things. I just hope they move before it is too late for them.

Monken adjusted, quickly. Like Saban would. Twice Saban beat us with a mid-game QB change. They are both multiple NC championship coaches.

I also, hope that we get a new OC-QB coach before it's too late for us.

There’s an old adage that’s still applicable today. “ You get what you pay for”. I’m Glad to see so many fans expressing their admiration for Montgomery’s ethics and loyalty. I definitely share that admiration.

Unfortunately there is a large segment of fans who could care less about those admirable personality traits. They want a guy who can play as close to Tom Brady when he was at his very best. To heck with his personality.

They’ll Love him, adore him, right on up to the moment he transfers to an arch rival team. Then the Same people will say “ Well I never cared much for him anyway”.

When I was growing up people with the personalities of Montgomery and Gunner and I believe Puglisi as well. Were the kind of people I idolized ( still do) my hero’s, the people I wanted to be like. Now that’s vanishing like the dew on the grass on a hot summer day. Now it’s I don’t care a thing about your personality just win us a Ntl. Title. Or for NFL fans win us a Super Bowl.

NO I’m Not saying that All winners at such high levels, or even most, are **** people. I’m saying that there are Allot of fans that don’t care if They Are **** people, Just Win.

Then we ask How and Why did CFB come to this terrible point ? We ask How and Why our children, grandchildren can admire such a **** person ?

I could be Very wrong and it sure wouldn’t be the first time. But I think at least I want to Believe. That as best he can operating within the Extremely demanding parameters of NIL and the TP. And a ever hungry fan base demanding Ntl. Titles on a near constant basis. That Kirby and staff Try hard to be as selective as possible about character.

Now obviously they Will miss and Have missed on some players but I Believe they put forth Allot of effort. They Know that in the end a **** person only cares about themselves. If the person is a Truly remarkable player and athlete then that can relate to Wins in the short term. But can be devastating for the long term.

I have Four grandsons. I want them to pursue what ever endeavor that they will be happy doing. As long as it’s an honest and morally upright endeavor. I want them to be themselves. But if they incorporate some or all of the personality traits of Montgomery, Gunner, Puglisi, Some other Dawgs or if their own personalities are the same. I would certainly be very, very, pleased.

And I will Love them when they win or when they lose as long as they put forth their best efforts in an honest and morally upright endeavor. Kids don’t have many Hero’s to look to these days. At least not the type I’d want to see them emulate. You get what you pay for………

We’re fortunate to have Ryan Montgomery on the team. We’re also fortunate not to have Riola and Curtis on the team. RM wants to be a Dawg.

Riola and Curtis want to be the center of attention. Riola played for 4 different high schools in three different states. Personally, I wouldn’t have recruited him at all. Predictably, he’s already transferred once. Will probably transfer again. Curtis flat out lied to the UGA coaches during the recruiting process. Character still trumps many other qualities. While I’m not sure about the kid who bailed out on Oregon so quickly, I like Gunner and the two Ryan’s. All three seem to be young men of good character.

Kirby has won Two Ntl. Titles and just recently Two SEC Titles. And hasn’t been a HC for even vaguely as long as Saban. Champions aren’t always great men. You Can be a great man and not be a champion. But I’m not overly worried about future Champions at UGA. I’m Believing there will be more, many more. The NFL is chock full of great players that played for Kirby Smart. He’s only beginning his tenth year This year.

It’s sort of surprising and a bit frustrating to see how Some Dawgs fans think the ship is sinking after a 12-2 Season, an SEC Crown. The Only losses Bama by a whopping 3 points. Then Ole Miss by 5 points, Only 3 if you take away the final moments safety that everyone in the country saw was an act of desperation. First year starting QB.

Yep we’re in deep trouble alright. 🙄. If Kirby and the Dawgs are in trouble then TN, UF, SC, OK, Vandy, ARK, Aub, are right in there with us. You could easily throw Bama in that mix.

And Yes even though they beat us this year, without Kiffin and more importantly Chambliss Ole Miss might be there too Miss St. though seeming to improve might not be improved enough to make a big splash yet. TX just spent a Ton of $$ but we don’t know how soon it’ll yield results, maybe this year, maybe not.

So if Kirby and the Dawgs are in such bad trouble, misery loves company so there’s Plenty in the SEC.. No need for Dawgs fans to get excited and hopeful about 2026. I mean one look at Kirby’s record shows how bad the Dawgs s t I n k. 🙄 Anyone believing my sarcasm I have some excellent quick sand Oops property I ‘ll sell you. Go Dawgs !!

    • 2× National champion (20212022)
    • 4× SEC champion (2017202220242025)
    • 6× SEC East Division champion(2017–2019, 2021–2023)
    • 3× SEC Coach of the Year (2017, 2021, 2022)
    • One look at the above tells you what a real loser Kirby is !! Going into his Tenth Year THIS Year and that’s All he’s done !! Let’s talk about Wins/Losses to Non-Conference does. And Win streak at Home stadium. And look at All the Numerous Coaches who have won B2B Ntl. Titles. To many to even count !! Gosh and this is All this guy could accomplish ? what a loser should have been fired in 2017 !!
And if you actually Believe all that garbage I just spewed, Well I feel sorry for you is all I can say !!

Sorry squiddawg, are you talking to me? I didn't say 90% of what you responded to. So, it must have been someone else?

  • navydawgnavydawg Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

That’s Sir SquidDawg to You. No but you said enough. It’s what you implied. HOPING our QBs will Leave UGA ? What kind of Dawgs fan says Garbage like that ? You actually Want our QBs to leave ??!!?? Where would you have them go our rivals ? Oh and let me help you out a bit, football is a freaking GAME it’s Not War. In football teams lose Games it Doesn’t mean they are Losers as a whole. That’s Why I posted Kirby’s record over 9 years ( going into his tenth this year) as a reminder. And for you and all the other Debbie Downers crying about 2025. NO Team is gonna win Every year or even Most years in this new terrain of NIL and TP. The days of dynasties like Saban are gone. Why do you think he retired ? The sooner that you and quite a few others learn that an occasional Ntl. Title ( No not only once every 40 years) coupled with making the playoffs And winning the SEC are actually good things. The less Rolaids you’ll have to buy for heartburn. And NO I’m not asking Any Dawgs fan to Settle and/or be Satisfied. I’m simply saying your expectations are not grounded in reality. The Dawgs AND Gunner actually Exceeded most expectations. But no gratitude only boohooing.

Bravo !! Well Said !! It takes many times men of great character to recognize men of great character. So I believe You are a man of great character !! I like how you set the priorities of life !!

With great respect to my old HM-3, I won't poke you too much, squiddawg.

Tolerating anything less than a NC is unacceptable, just like being ONE of the best and not THE best is unacceptable. Ever notice that they don't make a foam hand with two fingers? Ever hear a "we're number two!" cheer? There's a reason for that. When you're not the lead dog, the view is always the same.

I find all of your excuses why we can only occasionally be THE best, well, disappointing. Like not making CPO.

Critiquing the Dawgs when they fall short is not a bad thing. It's a sign of respect for the players. The last thing I would wish upon any kid trying to live their dream is that they wouldn't get the best coaching and the best opportunity to play and go to the big show. How many kids in the NFL have benefited from the portal? 80% of the active NFL quarterbacks drafted early went through the portal. I wish these kids only the best. And if they can't get the opportunity to play in Athens, they should find a place that needs them. I wouldn't hold it against them. They deserve a chance to fulfill their dreams.

Well as much Crying as you do I sort of figured you were Used to losing. Ever notice how in Games there’s Always a Loser as well as a Winner ?
And I guess you’d say you’ve Won at Everything you’ve ever done ? Oh it’s OK for you to say it. Doesn’t mean I have to believe you.

Ever heard about losing with grace ? I doubt it doesn’t seem you know much about sportsmanship.

NIL and the TP are not excuses. They are Realities something that in your Fantasy world I’m sure you’re not used to. Oh and I Never met a CPO with Only 8 years in the Navy. One might exist but I Never met or heard of any. But I DID make First Class in the absolute bare minimum time it can be made. See you ASSumed I retired from the Navy. So your little what you Wrongly ( course your probably used to being wrong) thought would be a cutting remark was to no avail. HAD I reenlisted I think I had a good shot at making CPO in the minimum of Nine years. But I moved on to civilian life for mine and my family’s reasons and nothing else.

Now you attempted and Failed to make a departure from your Original comments. You Wished our QBs to Leave UGA. That’s what YOU stated. For Their own good. Doesn’t sound like much of a Dawgs fan to me. But Does sound Allot like a sore Loser.

See Mature adults realize that in Life as in football there Will be loses. So instead of peeing and moaning and Blaming everyone ( but Yourself) you pick up the pieces reorganize and get after it again. Just like Kirby Smart is doing.

So if as You said nothing less than a Ntl. Title Every year is acceptable. You Might want to hook up with a good psychiatrist with access to a good drug supply. Because as I said and I was right, your expectations are Not founded in Reality. There will be No More CFB dynasties. Say Hello to your HM3 Buddy for me. Go Dawgs !! P. S. Nothing wrong with good and Civil critique. Bashing though that’s not honest critique.

I’ll keep this respectful and on point, because that’s what the discussion deserves.

First, nobody here is denying reality, losses, or the fact that only one team wins it all each year. That’s obvious. Acknowledging that doesn’t mean fans have to stop evaluating performance, preparation, or decisions — especially at Georgia’s current level.

Second, expecting more is not the same thing as demanding a national title every season. That’s a straw man. The argument is about standards, not guarantees. When a program like Georgia football recruits at an elite level and markets itself as such, scrutiny comes with the territory. That’s accountability, not whining.

Third, criticism and sportsmanship aren’t opposites. You can lose with grace and still analyze what went wrong. In fact, that’s how successful organizations — athletic or otherwise — improve. Blind cheerleading isn’t loyalty; it’s complacency.

As for NIL and the transfer portal: yes, they’re realities. But “reality” doesn’t mean “immune from discussion.” Those systems change roster management, leadership development, and continuity — all fair topics for fans to debate. Acknowledging complexity isn’t living in fantasy.

On the QB point: wanting players to make the best decision for their careers isn’t wishing harm on the program. It’s recognizing that development paths differ. That doesn’t make someone “less of a fan.” It means they’re thinking beyond slogans.

Finally, I never questioned anyone’s service, career, or personal decisions — and I’m not interested in doing so now. That stuff doesn’t strengthen or weaken the football argument, and I’m happy to leave it there.

I respect the idea that you pick yourself up and move forward — Kirby does exactly that. Holding the program to the standard he himself established is part of that process, not opposition to it.

We all want the same thing: Georgia competing at the highest level every year. Reasonable critique isn’t bashing — it’s engagement.

    Go Dawgs.
