Kirby Smart's first love is playing conservative football. His mindset reflects that. That's ok. I am not disparaging that. He has stuck with Bobo because he thinks the same way. That thinking has hurt Ga. in the past. But it is what it is.
Todd Monken was not conservative minded. He had more creativity. If you do the research, you discover that Monken and Smart did not always see eye to eye. They were not buddies the way Smart and Bobo are. Some hate this; some love it. But this is what we have.
Tom, let's hope Bobo will grow in more inventive play design. This isn't a 1st year squad anymore, so hopefully, they can add to their bag of tricks.
One of the things we forget about Todd Monken was that he had very senior kids to choose from. Lots of football, lots of experience. Last year, they were so new in many areas. I'm hoping Gunner get's more reads in. I'm hopeful they lean on that super tight end more. And the O line is growing up.
Higher concessions and absolutely no free game day parking now.
Great point, jdatl3….when your knives are sharp, the cuts are more precise…..The Dawgs are one of the most tallent layden teams in college football…..after a most successful 25 season comes experience, with the season ending defeats comes painful reminders…..the players are ready to make up for past failures and to be used in creative ways which allows them to showcase their talent and I believe that Coach Bobo will come through…..I believe this will be Mike's last year as I expect him to be very supportive of Drew's NFL career…..no better time than now to win a Broyles!
Nice to see the coaches arr going to almost make as much as the players
What a waste of money. Undeserved. This man has singled handedly brought the last three seasons to a premature end with some of the worst play calling known to man. Guaranteed same result coming next year.
i think that’s part of it. The other big part is Gunner is missing many wide open pass catchers in the middle of the field. He has to hit those this season. We are really going to miss Branch this season too. Not sure there’s a guy on the roster who can do what he does.
Bobo, doesn't coach the defensive side of the ball, Glenn does, which has been average at best since Jalen Carter and Co. sped out of Athens. Plus letting a player call the defensive most of the time, didn't really help either. We really needed Glenn to go and Muschamp to stay, that was the real loss. Yes, Bobo can be so dumb at times with his play callings, heck, you could pay me 2.2 million just to call WR screen and HB dives, but when he is on he does call a good game.
For .3M more we could have swapped Schu for Muschamp…bummer
Mike Bobo’s offense went 3-13 on 3rd down against Ole Miss in the playoff game. Glen Schumann’s defense gave up 20 points in the 4th quarter. I guess it pays to be friends with the boss!
I thought April Fools was in April. Very disappointing but it’s the old buddy system. You won’t see a natty in Athens again with these guys coaching.
One thing you can say about Kirby is that he’s loyal to a fault. Sometimes that can be a good thing, but it's usually a liability. Loyalty taken too far blinds leaders to the realities everyone else sees clearly. As a result, leaders promote those who are less competent and stand by team members under legitimate concerns for non-production. Overly loyal leaders ignore facts and stand by people when it is no longer in the best interest of the team. Kirby’s loyalty to his friend is going to prove to be a fatal flaw. When will the lack of offensive production, lack of wins in the playoffs, and predictable play calling be enough? For example, during the 2025 season, the UGA Offense averaged 402.4 yards per game and 32.1 points. By way of comparison, Ole Miss checked in at 489.7 & 36.9, Tennessee 466.3 & 39.8, Vandy 462.8 & 38.5, Texas A & M 444.5 & 33.8, and finally Arkansas 454.8 & 32.9. Ole Miss, as we’re well aware, made the playoffs, so did Texas A & M. NIL has leveled the playing field; Vanderbilt is a prime example. Georgia had a “middle of the pack” offense that, at times, struggled against lesser competition. So, when is Bobo’s lack of production enough? When we lose in the first round of the playoffs 2 or 3 more times? When our offense hits the SEC cellar? When we lose to Tech? When? What will be the final straw, and when will it come? Only Kirby can answer that question. But if I’m paying a guy 2.2 million, he darn well better use some critical thinking skills and hatch me winning game plans. He better blow out lesser teams; he better outthink the defensive coordinators of other top teams consistently. As fans, are we asking too much? I think not.
Once again, Thanks for sharing your cheer, Eeyore…
