NIL money shouldn't be allowed until they take the field and contribute. I wouldn't be surprised if Miami dangles a fairy tale out there for him.
I know I'm gonna sound like an old fart but I really don't think these kids saying they're committed means a thing anymore. Another team is gonna show up with more money and they're gone. It used to be fun to hear these promises and start thinking about football before practice even started. Now you don't know who is gonna be on the team until games start.
When a player in today's age says they commit it means they commit when they sign the dotted line and enroll in school AND THEN it is only for a year with the portal.
Obviously the word/concept "commit" no longer means what I always thought…..so I give my HS jacket or ring to Suzie and she wears them on dates with other guys…..and can you imagine my angst when I find out Suzie is dumping me cause Mario or Danny Boy are paying her more…
He is just setting up a bidding war. The highest will not be UGA. Only hope is if he really wants to here. I said here before to go after 4 stars that want to do it the Kirby way and quit messing with these uber expensive stars that we have no real chance at.
I think it’s now a marketing ploy to say “commit” for some because then it STARTS the bidding, especially for UGA- we are a huge draw but teams know they can possibly outbid us- and so do players. They “commit” to us and then price goes up- 🙄
If you haven't found your "home" yet—then why commit? Playing that money game. Just reading the article makes me feel like we're being played.
If you still have 3 schools on your mind after you're supposedly committed to a school, you are not committed. As I've seen some state, its the start of a bidding war, nothing more.
Just a cringe article to me. He's a west coast guy. THe Ducks are going to quack the loudest on payday.
Show me the money!
What prevents college football from eliminating the term "commitment" from the sporting vocabulary until after signing day. There is enough angst out there without this term adding to it.
A suggestion: Let’s move on. I don’t want another drama like we saw with Curtis. As my granddad taught me when I was about 8 years old: “A man is no better than his word.” Still true.
