Monroe Freeling’s statement was telling: “And I think Earnest (Greene) coming off of a little bit of injuries, he’s gonna have a lot of development, especially with our new O-line coach and what we’re changing around here.” Offensive line coaching has been lacking, especially in 2024. The changes will be good.
Maybe Gunner will not want to take off so quick if they hold a clean pocket for the 3 to 3.5 seconds that Beck had in 2023. Beck had all day back there in most of the games that year, and he played well. Gunner has not had that luxury yet in his starts. Stetson also had that luxury, along with the blocking of Darnell Washington. It is hard to compare Gunner's journey to that, but I know Kirby knows what was lacking the last two years and I believe he will fix it. The Dawgs need a little better luck in the injury dept. as well. The teams that hey have ranked at the top are the same old tired teams that were there last year. Ohio State just is not that scary, Texas will more than likely improve with the running back additions and Boom as DC, but are not on the schedule. The Dawgs have a good a shot as anyone as it looks right now.
OL improved as the year went on. Don’t think Gunner was rushed as the season progressed. Really need him to step up this season if we are going to accomplish championship goals.
Glad we had so many young guys get significant snaps last year. It makes all the difference in transition.
Please no more Talyn Taylor future greatness comments until he shows he can catch the ball.
