I saw the interview and Aaron Murray agreed with Pollack. So, there are at least 2 former DAWGS!! (DGD's) at that who love UGA who believe GS needs to get better. I believe CMB and CKS have already said that too.(maybe I'm misremebering, I tend to do that these days). At the end of the day I think we would all love for us to have a better, more dynamic, less predictable passing attack. One that get's more receivers involved than just the little slot receiver.

No one is saying GS is some kind of slouch, he just needs to improve in some areas. He would be the first to tell you that! I could be wrong but I believe he's the first UGA QB to win back-to-back SECC's.

Now can we win it all if GS stays exactly the same? Maybe, maybe not. But I like our chances a whole lot more if he does improve throwing over the middle of the field! Go DAWGS!

indeed you are. But that’s your thing and it never fails to make me chuckle or roll my eyes which is probably your aim.

Here, Pollack is a master of the obvious: Suggesting that Gunner must improve to have a chance at the NC. Not a lot of deep critical thinking to get to that insight. Kasey goes on to validate his point.

We can all agree that there is room for improvement with our O production. D needs some progress, also.

Right!? If you took his prognostications...and, bet the opposite...you could make a lot of money. Lol Bless his heart....maybe, he was injured worse than we were led to believe. Lol...let's just play along out of respect for his game....."Very good, David. Now, eat your vegetables and drink your milk.".

Prediction: UGA rips CFB a new one in 2026! It could be the last year, anybody picks against em....or publicly doubts em. They've already made fools out of most of the gumflapping population.

Lol....even a broken clock is right twice a day. So, they make the same disparaging predictions regarding UGA's potential fall from grace, every year. Thinking, the law of averages will catch up to Dawgs, sooner or later.

And, if these predictable prognosticators ever find themselves being correct....nobody will remember the 50 previous times they were incorrect.

If they're waiting on UGA to lose, in order to make their name. Lol....good luck. It doesn't happen often.

    Totally agree with David Pollack.

College football coaching tenures have life cycles. Get a graph, plot Smart's record for each year to date with Richt's. Except for the Natties, there isn't a whole lot of difference. Looks liike we plateaued a couple of years ago and are now coasting toward the long decline just like Richt did.

I really have to agree with Pollack. Don’t get me wrong, I think GS is a very good qb but I also think that to win a natty these days you really need exceptional qb play. GS needs to trust his pocket more and not just bail and run. I believe this tendency leads to the next 2 areas that I think are the biggest in terms of needing improvement. Finding receivers open over the middle and making the touch throws necessary to get them the ball and certainly finding the open receivers downfield. We all saw, albeit from our couches or instant replay not from the frantic action on the field, time and time again GS would try to fit the ball into a tiny or no open windows while on the other side of the field a receiver would be running wide open. A little less happy feet might allow him to accomplish both of these.. Now if the defense plays like 2021, 2022 Pollack might be wrong but that’s a big ask. GO DAWGS!

Great comments !! And very realistic. But I’d be very shocked if Gunner doesn’t improve at least Some. And if the rest of the team Also improved just Some on his part Might be enough ( though it might not either). We went 12-2 with him and the SECCG crown.

As a Mod you might have access to last year about this same time where quite a few Dawgs fans here had us going 9-3 best case scenario 10-2. Some had us at 8-4 maybe even 7-5. And they based this mainly Because of Gunner. In My mind I thought 11-1 with a loss to either TX or Bama. I didn’t really have a viable thought about the SECCG back at this time last year.

So my thinking is even he can improve just Some we should be able to duplicate last year But go deeper into the playoffs Maybe the Natty. Thats assuming the rest of the team gets better. Now if he improves Allot and the rest of the team does as well there will be no stopping the Dawgs !!

What Shouldn’t be surprising to me but is is the level of doubt among many Dawgs fans. Some seem to speak like Nope Gunner’s Not gonna improve. I don’t get that at all. Gunner Knows his deficiencies and if he’s living up to his normal work ethics he’s busting his butt to improve on those. Plus now having a full year and post season as The Man I would think his confidence level is very solid.

So I Hope I Think that if Bobo dials up good plays and cuts Gunner loose that he’ll do Better this year. I Believe Much Better but we’ll see how it goes. I’m hoping the O Line can buy him at least one or two more ticks of time And the pass catchers be it a WR or TE can get a smidge better separation from the defenders. IF those things happen Gunner won’t have an excuse to make the majority of plays.

If we have more deep passes there Will be the occasional INT and maybe even a couple of s t u p I d ones. But as long as there much more TDs than the picks there will be a bare minimum of complaining from fans. Let’s Hope !!

for me it’s not just the deep shots, it’s utilizing the whole field. There’s a huge chunk of yardage in the middle of the field Gunner can’t take advantage of. Stetson took a leap in year 2…let’s hope Gunner can do the same. As of today I’m a little dubious.

I think his toughness can almost be a detriment because he plays through pain when he should be sitting. I doubt we will get much info from G-Day or the first two paycheck games.

I've said it before...and, I'll say it again....I don't give a rat's pajamas, who the quarterback is. YOU NEED TIME TO THROW LONG DEVELOPING ROUTES. And, last year....Gunner didn't have it.

Enter a new and hopefully improved O-line Coach. With what the Dawgs have returning, along with Big Nate....they probably won't even need to pass downfield. Dink & dunks will be enough. Lol

All that, said...I wouldn't count on anybody holding Stockton back, this year. He's about to go nuclear.

Agree. We can all speculate and debate it and that’s what makes this site fun !! It’s entirely possible that Gunner might not progress at all. But honestly if that’s the case I’ll be utterly shocked. Like you and so many Dawgs fans I to want to see the TEs used more often. You make good points.

But I will say that @BigDawg61 made a good point about having a powerful running game. IF the Dawgs can indeed have a powerful and Consistent running game it should take allot of pressure off Gunner. In all facets on both sides of the ball the most important word for me is Consistency .

There were games last year that standing alone you’d think Oh these Dawgs are gonna be Ntl. Winners for sure, yet in other games you’d think No way we even make it to the playoffs !!

But in the end from a Whole team perspective a solid 75% rests on Gunner. The reason I say that is IF the Defense is Ultra Elite and can shut a really good team completely down then the Dawgs could Field Goal them to death !!

I Hope Gunner can improve and again I Believe he can and will. But just as Gunner will need to have Faith in his O Line and WRs/TEs, Bobo will Need to have Faith in Gunner and cut him loose. We All need to Expect the INT numbers to go up, But if he throws much more big ydg. plays and TDs we need to temper our criticism.

As long as Gunner plays a strong role in winning games and is a help more than a hurt I’m not gonna sweat INTs that much. Just Win should be our mantra. Go Dawgs !!

I gotta say...I loved what I saw from the young offensive linemen last Season. Especially, from Gaston and that kid that played next to him, on the right side. Very athletic and powerful.

I look forward to watching UGA's running game, more than the passing game. Big Nate could do something really special, this year. And, Gunner's wheels are just gettin' warmed up. HE can do something special as well.

This Season, has the potential of being an all-timer. Lol. An all-time best....or, an all-time letdown. I anticipate the former. Kirby ain't Mike White. Lol

    Go Dawgs! Go Navy!

"The reason I say that is IF the Defense is Ultra Elite and can shut a really good team completely down then the Dawgs could Field Goal them to death !!"____ @navydawg

That's why i harp on complimentary football, so much. Imo...you can't talk about offensive success without mentioning the defense....and, number of possessions or turnovers or average field position.

UGA is about as balanced as I've EVER seen em. Now, they just have to perform..."consistently"...on both sides of the ball.

Imo...Kirby made the necessary coaching changes that NEEDED to be made last year. We'll see how that pans out. Lol
