Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I guess that's understandable. There's a lot of competition now for the WR spot and maybe he didn't feel like he'd get the opportunity.
What does "commitment" mean?
"the dedication, promise, or obligation to a course of action, person, or goal, often involving emotional, financial, or temporal investment. It signifies a binding engagement"
except when it doesn't…
He is out shopping for a better $ and will for sure find one. Plus, we require or WR's to block. Not everyone will do this.
What a surprise! 😏🤷♂️
what about when the staff who accepted the commitment tell him to look around and stop keeping in touch? Does their lack of commitment mean anything?
I see no need to fret over a lost commitment. It happens all the time. Sometimes we win and sometimes we win.
“….Please respect my decision.”
I wonder if he understands “respect” better than he understands “commitment”?
Please stop calling these recruits "commitments". They aren't committed until they sign on the dotted line.
I believe he used the word commitment, although it's clear that he doesn't understand the word. Lot's of people like that nowadays.
Sounds like the Dawgs may have helped him to decommit.
Then qualify your commitment by saying "unless my current school ceases to pursue me" or "unless my current school starts to pursue someone better than me" or "unless the coaching staff changes and my position coach leaves" or "unless somebody shows up with a bigger bag of case"….
How bout this? Just don't announce your commitment..if everything stays the same just show up on signing day-that would be cool
As for the comparison of player commitments and school football schedules…How frequently do schedules change as compared with the whims and vagaries of a player's decision? How often has UGA backed out of a series as compared to the opposing school? Isn't there usually some obvious mitigating factor with a school schedule change..a factor outside of that school's control?
how about this? If you’re a coach don’t accept his commitment unless you are really sure you still want him…doesn’t that go both ways?
and yes it was me. Schools cancel those series because the playoff committee rewards any type of win more than a competitive loss. There’s no benefit to risking a loss and scheduling tough. Compare Indiana’s schedule with ours last year. Ours was more challenging and yet because we had one loss they had the higher seed. And so did Ohio.
However I made that distinction because college football fans of a certain variety when kids change their minds, or get a better offer and look elsewhere. They never take into account a coaching staff likely encouraged them to look elsewhere. Or they’d be foolish to turn down the money they are being offered.
But schools commit to playing an OOC game and then cancel it. It’s a similar scenario where a commitment is made and then minds are changed.
Dog fans who get so upset by a de-commitment act like children. They should first consider that the coaching staff may have changed their minds and have encouraged it. Secondly, they should say “good riddance”, especially if the player isn’t from our state.
And this is why it is hard to get excited about a commitment. They are not truly committed unless they have signed a LOI if there is such a thing anymore. Hey I’m cool with it, don’t want to be here then give me a player who does. Go dawgs!!
