Hope FU is up next so we can smack em down. Only series we lost this year was them……..😠
How do the playoffs work in the NCAA? Can you get a high enough seed to skip the qualifying tournaments altogether and go straight to the CWS?
Or does it just get you the chance to host at your home ballpark and the best possible matchups early?
Edit: based on their resume entering the tournament, they seem likely to finish as a Top 8 national seed and host a regional for the third year in a row.
So I guess no way to skip the regionals. Which always seems to be our sticking point.
I think the 8 winners of the Super Regionals make it to Omaha. I think.
Florida is hot right now with good arms. They already played two games to get rolling. Gonna be a tough one Saturday. Our bats have cooled a bit the last couple games. Our guys should be amped up though to avenge the series loss in Athens.
Correct. UGA will be at home through out the Regionals. Come get us in our house if you can……we will be a 3 or 4 seed nationally for the Regionals
Go Dawgs! Down 6-0 to FU, came back to win 8-7.
Down goes FU 8-7 rain delay helped Byrd shut em down in the 8th and 9th. Jackson (who else) game winning RBI.
Georgia beats Florida to advance to the SEC championship game and there's no article about it on Dawgnation?
I see it's up now. Awesome! Glad to see the baseball team getting the attention it deserves.
GO DAWGS!!!
Been out and about all day ill have to go back and watch the replay.
Big win is even bigger when it's against Florida.
hell of a game. The dawgs are showing they can grind out wins without the long ball late in the season. Exactly what we will need to do in Omaha if we can get there. I’m so tempted to drive up to Athens for either the regional or supers
Thinking I may go up to Hattiesburg if they get lucky and host a regional and watch 1 or 2 games check out future competition maybe……I can get press box access
I went to the gym yesterday PM and noticed the game. I haven't even paid attention to Dawg baseball, but I looked at the Gator pitcher—Barberi—and I noticed 91MPH on the pitch, but the ball sort of drifted down and in a little. Hmm, what was that—a split finger? I watched a little more and I realized that was his change up—91MPH! His fastballs were about 100MPH. We were down 6-0 and after I watched the kid from Snellville throwing fire for a couple of innings at the Dawgs, I figured we stood zero chance of winning and moved on—I hate losing to the Gators at anything, but especially with a kid from Snellville pitching. Later, I saw where we won the game. I might have to watch it and see how that happened. I will say this, if that kid learns how to take a little more off the change and get more movement, he is going to be a great pitcher. Congrats on a great comeback win from the Dawgs! I have to admit I gave up and didn't think they had a chance of winning it.
Lookout for the Gators to be in Omaha. They have the best staff I’ve seen by far. They threw 4 dudes at us yesterday that were 97-99, and that didn’t even include their top two starters….yikes. We knocked out the first dude on a line drive in the second inning and I was feeling pretty good about that at the time (after the negative X-ray), little did I know…
That’s why it was such an impressive win. Our dudes battle at the plate every AB, it’s not just power numbers, which we lead the nation in. They take pride in not striking out either which is crucial in post season.
We took the lead after a single, double, and two sac flies. Then a shutdown 9th from Byrd. Just playin’ ball the way it’s supposed to be played.
You should go if you got that kind of hookup. Regional and supers in baseball is the best of the best for college sports imo. Baseball has done it right for decades, the rest of the sports finally catching up.
