"If Georgia is going to top its 2025 season, the Bulldogs need to elevate from being a good team to being a great one."

Due to our new recruiting strategy, this may be the last really elite team we have for a long time. Hoping the injury bug will not appear this year and we can have a long run in the playoffs. Looking forward to one more year of magic!

I think we are loaded for this and the next 2 years. Not sure after that as our current recruiting is in the toilet (22nd…are you kidding me?!). We will have our best chance this year and next.

The pass rush has been an issue over the past two years, and it's the difference between a good defense and a dominant one. The focus is always on the outside rushers, but the key to a great pass rush is push up the middle. The ability for the DTs to collapse the pocket forces the QB to either escape or rush their reads. UGA hasn't had a dominant inside rusher since Jalen Carter. Scheming pressure and blitzing is fine against average teams, but good teams with good QBs will take advantage of the blitz. I'm hoping some of the young DTs take the next step, which will help the outside rushers.

I was ready to give you the Vote Up but I am not as sure as you about "and the next 2 years". This year's D is loaded with potential. After this year a lot of high (no pun intended) ranked D talent will be leaving Athens. Seems like a real 1 year window for UGA to make a championship run this season.

UGA is still recruiting pretty well. Just not Top 5 well. There will be good players in Athens just not enough like Alabama was and UGA was a few years ago. That brings UGA back to the pack. Take away 1 DE/OLB (Harris) in '25 and UGA loses a playoff game to a team it beat earlier in the year. When the depth is not there the margin for error is reduced. Not having the elite QB prospects also will make it more difficult for UGA to rise to the top of CFB.

@87Dawg_11 What you said w/o saying directly is that the UGA scheme is not designed for rushing the passer consistently. The UGA scheme is designed to control the LoS and stop the run by allowing the LB's to run free to the ball. Except in obvious passing situations. That's why UGA deploys essentially 3 DT's and 1 OLB vs 2 pass rushing DE's and 2 DT's. Like '25, I expect the UGA D to continue to struggle statistically with sacks in '26 based on the defensive assignments. Don't expect the IDL to be turned loose to rush the passer with any regularity this year. Doesn't mean that UGA doesn't have a top 5 ceiling this season.
