Sentell’s Intel: What’s left for this Georgia football recruiting class?

That's a great question Jeff—What IS left? I'm afraid to consider what is happening with recruiting. Perhaps we shouldn't call it recruiting anymore, since that entails "good" qualities concerning student athletes like commitment to an ideal, a desire to get a good education, the chance to be coached to your best level, and play with others cut from the same cloth. Maybe we just need to, sadly, call it "PAYROLL".

Not so fast DevilDogDawg….if you will check, The Dawgs recruit players with the "measurables"…..3 Stars that also come with that "fire" to become DGD's…..through patient development rather than pay to play 5 Stars who come with attitude, which every coach will tell you, is the greatest obstacle to improved development. UGA has distinguished itself as the premier NFL player source…..2, 3 and 4 stars with "measurables" and NFL ambition know this…..religating "class recruit rank" not nearly as relevant as it was before NIL. They also know that exposure and development requires playing in the conference with the toughest yearly schedule on a TEAM with a winning track record…..my bet is that the #17 class or where ever The Dawgs land will distinguish itself as another WINNER!

What will you say if that 3 star is getting picked on the first day of the draft?

Not saying it will happen, but it did happen not very long ago when Kirby targeted Eric Stokes after missing on the 4 & 5 stars that cycle. Stokes was a 3 star who we all were wondering at the time "Who is this recruit?"

Glasco really impressed our coaches enough in a camp setting with all the measurables. Height, hip flexibility at corner & size, & speed (4.4s in 40) as well as playing at a powerhouse school in Grayson.

Early enough in the cycle, wouldn't surprise me if he gets a boost on the rankings after senior evaluated tape (He missed 90+% of his junior season to injury).

Come December, I predict we will sign at least one if not two corners in the class, and one if not two safeties. Kirby is playing chess, not checkers. Look also for a 'star cross-over' versatile db similar to Dinkins in 25 & Ty Boogie Green in 26.

Feel strongly that we close on Fife and one of either Cole & Williams if not both.

Wildcards are May & Feister. We want both badly!

Sounds like the two flip targets are contingency targets that may go public at any time or may not happen until end of cycle as we see where numbers are in regards to the 105.

We will likely be outside the 'top 10' due only to numbers, not quality of the class imo.

It’s going to be important now more than ever to keep as many starters/experienced players as healthy as possible. I’m convinced that UGA is the best place for player development, but it may take longer for lower ranked players to be ready.

    GO DAWGS!

Great quote and so well said!

I had a dream last night that NIL and all of the low life politicians, sports agents, attorneys & greedy corporate types were cast into Gehenna. Then, I wake up to read that our beloved, proud University of Georgia has to stoop to try to bribe some 18 year old to come to Athens and grace everyone with his talents. Sickening.

That will be great. Just thought the reference that it was between us & UConn is funny, nothing more. You make great points & I agree.

You're right, I thought the question as to "why" was relevant in this case. And in some cases, DN & other writers seem to just package known info into an article. But the "Intel" attached to Sentell is accurate based on history. Look forward to scrolling on & reading E Roc's comment.

Yes, apologies for the comment & appreciate your respectful response. You've done a great job providing insights over a long period of time. Glad you're on DN. And I wouldn't be here if I didn't enjoy all of the DN staff's work. I'm off of Zyn for 2 days now. No excuse, but there are times when I know I shouldn't hit "post" as another thought rambles through my head.

Guys, Georgia is not going to ever win or come close to winning the money battle (in recruiting or NIL), so it's silly to think we can. The only way we win is through the intangibles and a big part of that IS coaching and development. Can that, in of itself, make enough difference? I think it can if we can stay in or around the Top 10-15 when it comes to recruiting and transfers.

Personally, I think if Bobo can't bring home the bacon this year with the offensive players he's got to work with then it is time to give someone else a try. The defense should be stellar if we stay healthy. We've got all the pieces to make a run this year. Let's not waste it.
