I hope Dowdell shows us more than McCray did last season. McCray was a good short yardage, between the tackles runner. He lacked the speed to make the perimeter, i think everytime he tried to bounce it outside, he was tackled for a minimal gain, or a loss.

At 180 lbs Dwight Phillips is a 3rd down or situational back only. He will have an important role. But I expect Frazier, Bowens and Dowdell to all have more carries than Phillips.

Hoping Phillips can take on a sort of James Cook type role. You can see he’s been hitting hard in the weight room. I just hope he’ll continue to do that. We’ve got some fine RBs just convert the potential to reality on the field. I think they can and will. Use Gunner only at opportune times. I’m anxious to see what we have against a competitive team ! Go Dawgs !!

Yeah and don’t want to forget him. I think he could be a good contributor. Like all of them I hope he hit it hard in the weight room ! Some good experience among these guys so I look for them to be a big plus for the team !

"Georgia should have a strong offensive line, as four players with starting experience return from last season’s offensive line."

The OL position group will have a significant impact on how the RB position group is able to perform. With Rauscher now in charge of the OL, I'm hoping to see an improvement in the run blocking efforts. Under Searles, they always appeared to be using pass blocking techniques on run plays. With the size, speed, and talent that he has on the OL for the 2026 season he should be able to improve dramatically on that 4.4 yards per carry. If that happens, we can expect to see more manageable third down situations and more opportunities to hit open receivers on pass plays.

    GO DAWGS!

With a solid RB room, much improved and experienced O-line, the Dawgs ought to be able to go play-action and RPO much better this season…especially if we open up the TE room and find one or two wideouts who can get some space. Overall, this running game should give Gunner better options and maybe a bit more time for his reads and decisions. Get the run going to open up the pass. We hear that time and again…maybe an explosive play or two?

The key to all of this working is minimizing injuries and lady luck - the two things you can't control.
